Does anyone else moosh up their ice cream before they eat it?

You know - smash it around the bowl until is all squooshy and gooshy like soft serve?

Or do you strictly eat it in the scoop melded balls?

I like to wait until it melts a bit, then eat the melted stuff and then eat the rest as it’s nice and soft. Since I’ll usually have ice cream after the Saturday sauna, I sometimes eat the ice cream in the sauna, after bathing when it’s still warm - it melts nicely in there.

I used to do that when I was a kid- especially if we got ice cream with those little colored sugar crystal sprinkles on top, because they were inevitably left over from making Christmas cookies and were thus red and green, and turned the ice cream this great icky color as it melted and they dissolved.

It’s amazing to me how much the smooshing enhances the dining experience for me.

I started as a kid and have just never stopped.

Especially with cookie bits, syrup, or nuts.
It’s also important to let enough melt to drink from the bottom of the bowl.

I give it about 15 seconds in the microwave. Prevents “brain freeze”

Back when I could still eat peanut butter I used to mash that around in there too.

I do that too! Mom gets mad at me.

When I’m all by myself I get vanilla ice cream and put liquid food coloring in it to turn it pretty colors. Then I stir it all together.

I do that too. I love it when you have Neapolitan ice cream and you make it one delicious flavor.

My sister does it all the time. She also eats cereal with a teaspoon, which also really annoys me.

I sometimes mash my ice cream. I’ll nuke it if I happen to end up with a flavor that has nuts in it, so I can strain out the nuts. But given that I’ve been making something like 2 gallons of ice cream a week for the past 6 months, I don’t tend to end up with flavors that aren’t to my liking. And I also can have fairly soft ice cream straight out of the machine, so no mooshing is required.
And I love drinking the last little bit out of the bowl. Yum.

I do that, if I’m not real lazy and just eat it out of the tub. :smiley: You know I can’t even remember the last time I ate ice cream out of a bowl, I think I’ll go home and try it tonight!

Of course. Also, with a few specific ice creams I’ll eat all the ice cream and leave the cool bits of stuff in it for last. Ben and Jerry’s Phish food is perfect for this. All that yummy ice cream then a couple of spoonfuls of chocolate fish.

Yes! I moosh up ice-cream so much that one can put it into a mug and drink it :smiley:

I think that people who ought to know say that the ice cream actually does taste better (or just has more flavor) when a little warmer than freezer temps. The mooshing is probably warming it up.

Yes! Ice cream must be mooshed. Especially if its got crunchy bits in it…

I like mooshed up ice cream. I think that is why I eat so much of the homemade kind when we do make it. It comes out of the ice cream freezer at just the right consistency.
