Does anyone else's hotmail account freeze up

Ever since mine was upgraded to 250Mb it always freezes. Does anyone else have this problem?

Mine was upgraded the other day and I haven’t had any problems.

Mine have not frozen but the newest one (I have two) seems to be a lot longer, horizontally, than it was before. This is before I actually open up the inbox; I’m talking about the messages page.

Yeah, it’s happening to me all the time right now. It happened for a while maybe a month ago, stopped, and then started again a couple of days back. I can’t figure it out, I have to ctrl-alt-delete it every time.

Wesley, I started the same thread the other day, and you even replied to it:

Don’t worry, you are not alone. But I’m able to get into mine again, so don’t give up quite yet.

That was trouble with logging in though, I can log in just fine its just that my hotmail freezes when I try to look at messages.

Mine hasn’t frozen when I try to check messages. It freezes shortly after logging in. The inbox/junk mail screen comes up and yoink frozen solid. Ctrl-Alt-Delete

They’ve changed some of their jscripts and they’ve screwed them up.

E.g., there’s a new pop-up confirmation box for clearing out/moving stuff in folders. The “OK” button’s action needs “true” as a parameter and they left it empty. That apparently works ok with some browsers but not with mine. (Opera 7)

So I have a steadily increasing junk mail folder that I can’t empty. Luckily the size has been upgraded and things will eventually get flushed out. But I still can’t move something from junk mail to inbox.

I don’t use IE but I’ve noticed many times over the years that even different versions of IE don’t behave the same in such situations. So even if you are using IE but “the wrong version”, you could be getting hangs.

One of these days MS will hear about the concept of “testing software before you release it.”

And another thing:

This new confirmation box is a full blown popup window instead of a a dialogue box. If you have a popup blocker, then that can cause problems. (I have Opera set to allow requested popups.)

I decided to try mozilla firefox instead of IE and now it doesn’t seem to be freezing.

Well, I have to swallow my earlier words now. Today it froze up several times when I chose the new Picture option to try to send a photo attachment out. I found that if I just chose File like I always had before, it would not freeze.

What a pain, though.

First Hotmail sucks mondo-cock, damn I wish I hadn’t gotten so accustomed to using it as my primary contact…

Anyways, I noticed this too. It was happening on my home machine, it’ll freeze whenever I log in for about 30 seconds, then operate fairly normal (with the obvious changes they made).

However, I get to work today and I use it an notice a giant full-screen java pop-up ad over the top of everything. The ad has no close box, or way to bypass it. That gave me a theory as to what the issue is. I think on my home machine I have some setting different, or perhaps my pop-up blocker is making the ad unviewable, but the screen isn’t usable until the script running the ad is (or would be) complete. Kinda tough to explain I guess, but I think the lag you’re seeing is somehow connected to that damned pop over ad.

Just wanted to chime in with the same problem, maybe bump this to the front.

Has anybody sent in feedback to Microshat over their crapassidy software “upgrade” yet?

Hey they got rid of the frame when you click a link in a Hotmail email!!!

Okay, so I did a little research, and apparently someone has found out why this continues to happen. Hopefully Wesley Clark and others who were having this problem will stop back in here.

I’ll quote, since this came from the PC Pitstop forum:

So I did exactly that – log into MSN Messenger, then tried to check my Hotmail. Voila. No lockups.

It’s stupid as all get-out that Hotmail requires you to be running Messenger in order to use it, but nobody ever accused Microsoft of using good judgment.
