Does anyone here hang out on Television Without Pity?

Actually, that was back when it was Mighty Big TV-but that was the reason I got banned at Hissyfit. It was during an argument, and I just said, “You know, that’s not really a mature way to make your point.” Or something.

Then I was banned at MBTV for asking on the off-topic board if there was something wrong with HF, because I hadn’t yet realized I was banned. shrugs

It’s no big deal. Their rules are their rules. And it was years ago, so I really don’t care anymore. In fact, I’m kinda glad, as I wouldn’t have found SAAN if I hadn’t been banned.

And yeah, I have been trying to post better. Sometimes I just start clicking and typing without thinking. Sorry 'bout that. :o

Well, I just get the e-mail notifications that the recaps are up for the shows I am interested in, so I avoid the boards altogether.

I did spend a couple of weeks reading through the Sports Night recaps during my lunch hour.

I was in a hurry when I responded earlier, and I didn’t see this:

Annoyed with me? I thought the place was just an eternal Pit; I didn’t realize people found me specifically objectionable.

How do you pull up a posting history over there?

Don’t apologize to me. I don’t give a crap. My entire TWP experience was reading the FAQ, the thread from last week’s Sopranos episode and looking at your posts. I take back #3, I didn’t catch that it was a separate thread.

Maybe. I only read your posts and few directly after them. It struck me that they found you irritating for some reason. I don’t think any one thing was specifically bannable but they didn’t like what they saw in your entire body of work. They don’t seem to wait around to see if someone will come around or whatever.

 It’s really not that big of a deal. Their board, their rules and all.

You have to register. Once they accept your registration you can search.

hajario-I am registered there but when I pull up search it only lets me search the recaps and extras.

Banned from TWoP? Hell, I never got that far…I tried to register THREE TIMES and never got a confirmation email! Finally I gave up because a) I ran out of email addresses, b) used up all the usernames I wanted to use (all three of my attempts are still marked “pending”), and c) they took down The Mole forum, so what’s the freakin’ point…

That’s crazy how they’ll ban you for double-posting. What if you do it by accident and don’t realize it, or can’t fix it because the server goes down?? Jesus, if the SDMB prohibited double-posting, we’d all be banned in a week.

I’m not sure what is happening here. You don’t want to search the website, you want to do a search on the forums. I did a search for “Rilchiam” and found a post where someone mentioned her name. I then looked at that thread and found Rilchiam’s post. Then I was able to access her info page and find all of her posts.

It’s not the accidental, server hiccup double posts that get you in hot water over there, it’s when people forget to say something and go back and make another post immediately after one they just made. They prefer you to edit your post and add any additional comments there and not post several times in a row. Just clarifying a bit.

I’ve been registered at TWoP since about 2001 and I’ve only had minor problems (I got warned once for saying “umm…” which baffled me to no end until I read the faq). It might help that the only forums I post on now are the Buffy and Firefly ones (although last year at about this time I was all about the American Idol board).

There is no doubt that the mods are Nazis, but I like it that way. It really cuts down on vapid posts on a forum that is extremely prone to them. And hey, there are entire boards and threads there dedicated to nothing but vapid posts, so there’s fun for the whole family.

That the mods are always on you to keep on topic has led to some excellent threads and discussions that I’ve seen.

I’ve been a TWoP member since around 2000 when I found their Buffy Boards. I’ve never been banned but I have been warned. The mod I communicated with was completely reasonable when I asked questions. I guess that varies amongst the mods.

me too me too! (this is a post that probably would send my 20% warning level over the top to banned-hood @TWOP:smiley: )

I’ve just been looking over Tw/oP’s Message Board for Showbiz Moms and Dads . . . I don’t want to start a Board War (can’t—I’m not registered and have never posted there) but, boy, do they have lousy, humorless Mods!

Every time people get on a nice, mild and interesting hijack (the meaning of “conversation”), a bluenosed Mod will pop in and threaten “topic!” while peering over her spectacles and waving a ruler menacingly.

Some of the best threads here have been because they veered wildly and hilariously off-topic.

Apparently everything there is a mortal sin  and apologies are rarely accepted.

I’m way too lazy to read through board FAQ’s many times, I just try to be polite and follow other posters’ examples (20 lashes w/a wet noodle for me) - so I didn’t know about not signing a name to your posts, and my very first post I accidentally sent to a wrong place. The moderator I apologized to (privately) for that faux pas actually did graciously accept it and told me not to worry about it, someone else had taken care of it, but that someone else “warned” me, then sent me a nasty email about not signing, and huffily told me I’d been warned twice in two posts and I’d better watch myself.

No more posts for me! But I do like the humor of some of the re-cappers.
