Does anyone here use a wedge pillow for sleeping?

I am the lucky owner of a body with a hiatal hernia, GERD and sleep apnea (and therefore, pronounced snoring). One of the things that my girlfriend, who has to occasionally suffer through said snoring, has suggested is that I get myself a wedge pillow.

I’ve heard of others doing this, and it seems like a really good idea for me, particularly since it might be helpful with multiple issues. I am about to pull the trigger on this pillow here [links to Amazon.com], and the reviews for it have been largely favorable. But given that it’ll cost me nearly $100 before I’m done AND the item can’t be returned, I’d like to know if anyone here has any experience with this pillow and/or any other wedge pillow that they’d be willing to discuss.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

My only feedback is: How well do you sleep on your back? If you generally toss and turn a lot, or if you like to sleep on your side or stomach… then you have an easy out right there.

I tend to start out on my back and fall asleep on my side, although sometimes the inverse. I don’t ever sleep on my stomach. This pillow is supposedly comfortable for sleeping on my side or my back, so that strikes me as being a non-issue (not that it’s automatically comfortable just because they say it is).

Have you tried Breathe Right strips for the snoring? I have just seen the commercials and I don’t know how well they work?

If your not to sure on how well it will work for you, just go to a medical supply store and buy a wedge from them. We have one from several years ago still in good shape, I use it for my lower back, but I did use it for my allergy and upper resperatory problems.

I’ve slept on a wedge pillow for the past few months. Mama Zappa says it helps my snoring. I’m also using a neti pot nightly, and I’ll be getting a CPAP soon.

For reasons unknown I cannot fall asleep on my back, but I almost always wake up on my back. I suppose the wedge pillow helps when I’ve fallen asleep.

I have a second pillow on top of the wedge. Before the wedge I slept on 2 pillows - three if I had a cold.

Try sleeping semi-recumbent on a pile of pillows, to see how it goes, before investing in this expensive gadget.

Using pillows to prop me up doesn’t work for me. I find that the inconsistency in the back support is massively uncomfortable. The idea of having a uniform slope is very appealing.

My dad has that Amazon one, got it for his persistent heartburn, which was always the worst in the AM. He doesn’t snore, so I can’t attest to how well the snoring component would work. He loves it, but I know for a fact he’s a dedicated back sleeper, never on his side, nor does he toss and turn.

I was thinking about something like this and I actually checked Walmart’s website and they had a few listed for much cheaper - I know it’s Walmart, but it is like a cheap trial.
