I don’t know where else this should go, so, Mods, feel free to move it.
Long story short, my immediate family and I are in South Carolina, where we moved for what turned out to be an abortive attempt at a Ph.D. in English. Another long story short, I preferred teaching to academic research, and research universities don’t tend to appreciate that.
Anyhoo…my parents are now in Ocala, and my wife and I would like to relocate closer to them so our daughter doesn’t have to wait three months to be with her grandparents. We have a few friends here in SC, but there’s really nothing holding us here, and we’ve decided that if one of us can get a good job in the Sunshine State, then we’ll make the move and the other will find something.
That said, my bona fides are that I have an M.A. in English and all the coursework for a Ph.D., eight years of teaching experience, and I’ve been editor, publisher, and writer for a literary journal. Currently, I’m the in-house writer for a company that produces relocation and real estate guides on a national basis, and have produced several dozen books of varying lengths through researching print and electronic sources.
I’ve also worked as an editor–when I got this job, I had to rewrite the works of several people who were asked to write books without any previous writing sample–and a production supervisor.
If anyone in Florida is interested in a hard working, decent, and quick writer, I have a resume available on request.
On the other hand, my wife’s worked as a provider relations representative for a couple of HMOs for the last several years…she’s looking too.
