Moving to F-L-A.

The beach bum life is calling me. After five years of drudgery at a large NYC law firm, it suddenly struck me that one is allowed to work less than 12 hours a day, six days a week. Further, one is allowed to live somewhere where the air is (allegedly) clean, the winters are warm, and the beaches generally lack medical wastes.

Accordingly, I’m packing it in and moving to West Palm Beach. I’m going to do some contract attorney work and try my hand at writing.

While I’m going to miss the NYC Dopers (one Doperette in particular), I’m looking forward to meeting and greeting a new crop of tanned and relaxed Dopers in South Florida.

So, who the hell are yas, and where do you live?

Sua

Good luck on the move, Sua. New York’s loss is Florida’s gain.

C’mon back up anytime, bro. You’re always welcome at a NYCFest.

And good luck with your new prospects, especially the writing.

dang - two identical threads and I posted in the other one…

We won’t exactly be neighbors, but if you’re driving, you’ll pass thru Jax, and I’m just to the south of the city.

Well, there’s me and some guy down Miami way.

Hey, I’m here too.

You’ll certainly be missed by the New York kids! Some nerve, by the way, soliciting for Flordia Dopers to welcome you without even proposing a time for the NYC Dopers to send you off.

West Palm! Keen! I love that area! I know you’ll have success at whatever you decide to do, and I hope you make it back to the Big Apple on occasion to make us all jealous of the beachy life.

Good thing I love flying, eh?

I’ll miss you too Sua ::sob::.

Wha? Oh, you didn’t mean. . … I’m not that spec. . … Well then to hell with you and good riddance!

Good luck and bon voyajy!

I live just a few minutes south of West Palm. Let me know when you’re hitting town, and I’ll buy you a celebratory drink. I really want to explore this work less than 12 hour days and 6 day weeks idea that you mention. It sounds radical.

Central Florida, Orlando/Kissimmee area.

Basically, about $11.60 northwest from you on the Ronald Reagan Turnpike (only $9.60 if you exit at Yeehaw Junction to drive an hour on the back roads to skip that $2.00 flat toll below Rte. 192).

And yes, I have interests other than the theme parks (I’ve ‘discovered’ some great places to go snorkeling and diving).

Feel free to use that live journel joke anytime.

Ronald Reagan Turnpike??? Never heard the Florida Turnpike called that. Hmmm.

Perhaps your arrival will raise the mean intelligence there. You may have better working hours at your free-lance job, but Fighting Ignorance will chew up the remaining moments of your day. Fighting Ignorance with a Tan, though.

Best of luck to ya, Sua.

Hey, I’m in Florida too. Lake Mary, about halfway between screech-owl and FairyChatMom.

Good luck on your transition. Hope you like it here.

As per the 1998 or 1999 Legislative Session (enacted by yer reps in Tallahassee

Feh. Real Floridians don’t have tans unless they work as lifeguards or construction workers.

It’s not like you actually have to call it that though. Folks around DC still call the airport there National.

I’m close to screechowl…south Lake County, which is really just the bedroom community for Orlando.

If you’re staying overnight, let us know and we can meet for dinner or something.

This is good news - I’ve been looking for some one to balance off my dad’s vote. (he’s not really near you tho, so it’ll just be the state elections).

I normally don’t, although I will admit to inadvertantly calling it the “Ronald Reagan Memorial Turnpike”. Purely Freudian: several of the 'personally named" roads around here (Central Florida) are ‘Memorials’ - e.g., “Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway” aka Rte. 192.

By the way, Sua - here’s yer local paper:
