Does anyone know what Soviet era soccer jerseys looked like?

There was an active Soviet league in soccer for most of the USSR’s history, but I am having a really hard time finding any color pictures or information about the shirts used by club teams. I am specifically looking for Kazakh SSR teams or other Central Asian countries’ teams. I have found some black and white pictures of a couple of teams but I can’t seem to find what the colors were. There are no vintage or retro jerseys on sale either.

I have also read that the individual SSRs would make ‘national’ teams that would occasionally play other member states in exhibitions. If anyone has information about whether this is true and what those jerseys looked like, especially again Central Asian countries, I would really appreciate some help!

I was a big pin collector during the Soviet years and did a lot of swapping of various things. As I remember they were basic “V-ish” neck soccer shirts and a lot of it was made by Adidas. Even a lot of the fan stuff was Adidas. I seem to recall some teams (The Dynamos and Jets) having long-sleeved and short sleeved versions. But that was some time ago. Have you checked eBay?

1988 Soviet National team. Safe for work but really really tough on the eyes.

Actually, that was just the Adidas style they chose in those days. The Dutch orange shirts were equally ugly (the only time they won and it is in those things:mad:), as were Germany’s green away shirts.

They were woven from strands of iron. There is a big star shaped iron plate painted red riveted to the front, and an actual Hammer and Sickle are welded to the back. Their soccer balls were made of concrete.

Wait, did you mean the real ones?
