I think the hys=“help yourself” and din=“do it now” ideas are definitely heading in the right direction. Someone has mentioned he actually has seen pins that say “hys” and “din.”
The more I look at the pin, the more I think the idea that “ufpog” means “u f***ing piece of garbage” makes a lot of sense. I wonder how it could be investigated/verified…
For example, did people use “u” for “you” in acronyms very much in the seventies?
Most of the info I got when I googled “help yourself do it now” were either home-repair or suicide/depression links. There was a book titled Help yourself… do it now!
Do we know in what town (and what high school) the button originated? Maybe there’s a regional connection. Also, fifteen years ago means 1988 or earlier, which may or may not be significant.
Exactally what year was it? Is it possible the letters are the first letters of the first line, or some other part of a song/group that was poplar @ that time?
