Does anyone make adjustable platform beds

I need a firm mattress to sleep on, and at a mattress store today a worker recommended I get a platform bed instead of box springs.

There are adjustable metal bed frames like this model that work with box springs.

That model can adjust to a Twin, Twin XL, Full, Full XL and Queen. Does something similar exist in platform beds (ie models that have additional wooden or plastic slats you can add or remove in case you want to change the size of the mattress, the same way some kitchen tables have slats you can add or remove to change the size of the table)?

I am drawn between a Twin XL, Full XL or Queen. So an adjustable platform would be nice.

You might be better off just finding somebody local to build you one. I’d imagine any decent cabinetmaker, even a hobbyist, would be able to come up with a plan and build a bed you could adjust to whatever size you want it to be. I can’t say I’ve ever seen one in a store or catalog.

I bought an adjustable steel platform frame from walmart.com for my queen mattress. The frame can be either queen- or king-sized, in case I ever want to upgrade in the future. There are extra bars and screws that come with it, I just have them shoved under the bed for now. This is the model I got (although it wasn’t that expensive when I purchased it a year ago, I don’t think). You may want to check out other options in this search here.

Just out of curiosity, have you considered settling on a mattress before you buy the frame? Or do you plan to own multiple mattresses and change the size of your bed often? (That’d be kinda weird, heh.) If you’re insistent on wood or plastic, I don’t know what options are out there, but there are definitely adjustable steel platform frames.

I like my platform bed a lot. I don’t need a headboard or foot board or box spring. It’s very comfortable and there’s lots of room for storage underneath. Platforms rock!
