I’ve had them, homemade from kale grown in the cook’s backyard, and they were good. I do get skeptical when something is touted as Da Food Du Jour and you will die of starvation if you don’t eat it.
I agree. The first time I made them the store only had the pre-chopped curly kale and it turned into fish food flakes by the time I baked, cooled, stored, and tried to eat them. You need something with more integrity.
They’re usually pretty good. I prefer to get them at the store rather than making them on my own, but that’s more of a cost & time issue than anything.
I made a big batch to share at a picnic last year. They went over very well. I liked them, but that was the only time I’ve ever had them. I really ought to make another batch one of these days.
