This thought has been nagging at me recently, and google has been unable to help, so I turn to the enlightened masses for the answer. Anyone?
He was a slight white dude, not unlike David Spade, and he would walk back and forth between 2 microphones that were about 3 or 4 feet apart.
Sounds familiar, but unable to place him. I have a friend who was the stage manager at a local club for 20-something years. He might know. I’ll try and remember to ask him.
Yes, I remember him. I think the bit was that he was telling the same joke, or making commentary, in two different “voices” or characters. He’d say something at one mic, then sort of saunter over to the other one.
My recollection is that he more resembled Bill Maher than Spade, but I don’t think it was actually either of them.
Could it be Tony Allen? Apparently he had a very distinctive microphone technique. In the routine he would stand back from the mic, use his own unamplified voice then step forward to say something in the microphone.
Never seen his act but it might fit the OP.
It definitely wasn’t Tony Allen, and yes, he probably resembled Maher more than Spade.
Jeff Marder?
