Does anyone remember Clothkits?

Well, probably no one does. My mom would sew them for me as a kid, and I loved them. It was a catalog that sold dresses you sewed yourself; the pieces were printed on the fabric and they usually had multi-colored designs all over them, and stuff. I had a lavender skirt with whimsical cats all over that I loved, and a teal corduroy jumper… The instructions were printed on the back of the fabric, even, so you didn’t need a pattern or pins–just the fabric! It was kind of hippie and came from England, which my mom thought was neat. I was probably the only kid in Bakersfield, California wearing them.

Anyway, they’re gone now, but I would love it if I could buy them. Does anyone know of anything similar out there?

Post your Clothkits memories here too, if anyone else here has ever heard of them. (British women raised by hippie mothers…do we have many of those?)

Not sure if this helps, but my local JoAnn Fabrics store has many bolts of fabric that are pre-printed with skirt patterns. I would say there were around 30 different fabric prints the last time I checked. I keep meaning to go back and get some and take a shot at sewing a couple, but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
