As the author of the ill advised comment, I’ll point out that it was never intended to be snark, as it lacks sarcasm as well as mocking irreverence.

During the Democratic Primary Debate on September 12, 2019 Mr Biden made a comment that parents should “make sure you have the record player on at night.”

The Victrola comment was a call back to Biden’s gaffe.
