Does Cold or Rainy weather deter you from Leaving the house for routine errands?

I don’t drive, but if I did, it would all depend, mostly on how bad the weather is, and what exactly I was going out to get. I can’t see myself leaving the house in really bad weather just to go to McDonalds, for example. Not because of the cold, or the rain – I don’t mind getting wet or cold – that’s what coats are for. If I need to get groceries, or pick up some various items, that’s one thing, but just for fast food?
Now I’d actually rather go out in the rain rather than the snow, and no, I don’t have a garage. I don’t mind if I get a little wet or cold – that’s what coats and umbrellas are for. You’re outside less than two minutes. But PA roads are notoriously shitty. I’d be more concerned about black ice or something like that.

Don’t forget the run on bread, milk and toilet paper as soon as bad weather reports hit. (What’s up with that?)

I think it’s genetic.

If you’re worried about a bad storm, with bad roads, and closed stores, and power outages, why would you buy milk, of all things?

I have no set schedule for running errands, which is primarily grocery shopping. If it’s raining out and I have everything I need to get me through I will not get out. I hate driving in the rain and if it’s icy I will go without just about everything. I have a roommate who will get out in any condition so that kinda makes my life easier. If he wasn’t around I suppose I’d be forced to get out for absolute necessities like TP.

No and I park the car in the street. Ice/freezing rain will stop me but snow or normal rain makes no difference at all.

I live in Santa Barbara, where it’s never actually cold and only rarely rainy.

I’m more likely to go to the store when it rains because I can’t do fun things outside, so might as well knock some errands off the list.

No, and I do have a garage. The poll should have had an option for No with and without garage.

When I lived in Missouri, we parked in the garage. We paid someone to plow the driveway and walk. It wasn’t much and it was well worth it. The only time we stayed home due to weather was the day we had 3-4 inches of snow on top of freezing rain. People went flying along, thinking it was nice, drivable snow, only to find it was a sheet of shimmery ice. I’ve never seen that many cars off the road or in a crash in a short distance.

In Oregon, we park in the garage and on the street. It rains so much, you just get used to it.

**Does Cold or Rainy weather deter you from Leaving the house for routine errands? **

Cold and rainy weather deters me from leaving the bed for any reason and beg for death.

Yes, but I don’t drive so any errands are done by walking, public transit, or Uber. Obviously, if there’s a must do errand, it gets done. But, if it isn’t essential, I’m likely to order anything I need online with the bitter cold we’ve had the past two weeks.

Not unless the cold weather and rain comes with a freezing component. That’s what makes things dicey around here (Dallas) because of the hordes of idiots who go zooming around as if their cars have some kind of super-magnetic stopping powers that don’t require their tires to actually get purchase on ice or snow.

Otherwise game on- mere cold and/or rain isn’t going to bother me.
