Does EBAY Slow Your Computer Down?

Lately, I’ve taken to browsing around EBAY…but it is s l oo w! I find that my old computer (HP Pavilion, 800 MHz processor) works fine…but once on EBAY, it slows down to a crawl. Is this some fiendish spyware lurking on EBAY?
I really don’t know what is happening. Last night, the browser just locked up-so I had to reboot.
Anyone have this experience?

It’s probably just eBay itself. I’ve got a 2.9 GHz proc and a 3 meg DSL connection, and some times, eBay just crawls, even with that much horsepower available.

Does that even make sense to you guys? Shouldn’t an online auction site be set up so it loads fast, fast, fast? But nooooooooooo, it takes forever. And it oughta be set up so it loads properly no matter what browser you use. I’ve pretty much given up on eBay.

Yes, eBay should be fast, but they’re running transactions that might be better suited to mainframes on regular servers that just can’t handle the load.

Also, it’s just gotten too popular for its own good.
