I went to get my eyes examed last week. I am ashamed of myself for not turning around and walking straight out the door when I realized that the guy wearing the orange crocs was the “doctor” and not just some idiot selecting glasses.
(As it turns out, the crocs were truthfully advertising his skill level, but by the time he’d confirmed that, it was too late.)
I hope y’all understand there was no real judgment intended with ‘attention seeker’. Not from my side anyway.
Lots of people are attention seekers. The woman with the huge, in your face cleavage, also attention seeker. The guy with the fauxhawk, attention seeker. The girl in the club with tens times more eyeliner than you usually see, attention seeker.
These are not bad things, they are just things. Young people struggle to fulfill their need for attention. Different strokes for different folks. Older folks are just more savy at finding subtler ways of attracting attention. Some decide they’d rather get attention for their accomplishments instead of their appearance. It takes all kinds to make a world, there’s room for everyone.
There is no way to deny that every great performer you can name is, at some level, an attention seeker. And thank goodness, it’d be a lesser world without their contributions.
I’m sorry if I hit a nerve with anyone. I was simply offering my honest opinion, which seemed to be what was asked for. If you have more than a couple of facial piercing, when I see you, I see an attention seeker. It’s not a judgment of your character it’s just an observation. Fortunately I am not going to allow this initial impression to measure you in anyway, it’s just that, an initial impression.
