I really think that at the end of the day, he comes back for the Vikings. It’s the year before a potential lockout season, he’ll get pretty much the entire team back around him, and he managed to make it through yet another season without any major injuries. I think he does the typical Favre thing and dicks them around to avoid training camp, but in the end he comes back and gives it one last shot.
He was quoted on ESPN this morning saying that his return to football was doubtful. The way I figure it once he quits hurting from the beating he took and the Vikings remind him how close he came to winning it all and how they have no hope without him, he’ll be back.
The fun thing is whether Favre’s return shames Kurt Warner into returning.
If e comes back you know it won’t be fotr the money. it will because of the unrivaled love of the game he has. No other football player just plain loves playing football as much as Brett Favre.
Asking him that question immediately following a loss where he was pounded badly is pointless. Of course he’s going to say ‘doubtful’. I’d say it depends on how he feels about a month from now. If his body recovers and he feels good I say he returns. If he’s still in pain and thinking “holy crap, my body can’t take much more of this and it’s taking longer and longer to recoup” then it may be time for him to hang it up.
Now the Vikings get to wear those ill-fitting shoes the Packers wore for multiple seasons while playing the “Will He or Won’t He” game…have fun with that
At least the Packers had a great QB waiting to take over, can the Vikings say the same - I think not.
