Does George W. Bush believe in evolution?

Just curious. I haven’t seen anything about his views on the creationism vs. evolution debate, but knowing that he is a born-again Christian, I wondered if he went so far as to accept the book of Genesis as literal.

Thanks in advance for not turning this into a GD (yet).

According to this issue sheet on George W. Bush’s positions on education he “believes both evolution and creationism are valid educational subjects. ‘He believes it is a question for states and local school boards to decide but believes both ought to be taught,’ a spokeswoman said. (Source: Bruce Morton, CNN Aug 27, 1999)” As to his personal beliefs I don’t know; this New York Times article (re-posted on a conservative web site) says he “is reluctant to talk about his views on evolution”.
