Does her claim of Satanic influence make her less credible?
In Italy, no one would doubt her for a second.
Next you’ll tell me that
NSA == National Satanic Association
CIA == Covert Instructions to Anti-Christ
Is this some weird (new? old?) ethnic stereotype? “Italians are gullible”?
Or a reference to that Amanda Knox thing, or… What?
Amanda Knox. The prosecutor thought the murder was some kind sacrificial Satanic sex thing.

Huh? The guy says he really doesn’t believe her story but then throws in a bunch of ridiculous stuff.
You’re joking, right? Nobody could possibly say these things seriously, could they?
Unfortunately, no. Those are direct quotes from the video. I want to know who the fellow is that runs the Satanic cults around the United States.
This was on Fox News, so obviously they’re talking about Obama.
It’s not hard for me to believe that many individual sociopaths, including mass murderers, have dabbled in black magic. Latin American drug dealers, for instance, have engaged in murder and human sacrifice in order to win the favor of their pet gods/demons/spirits.
It doesn’t follow that I believe there’s a huge, powerful network of Satanists responsible for vast numbers of crimes. Satanists are a fairly tiny, scattered and disorganized bunch.
Hence, if a newly arrested murderer starts talking about being part of a huge conspiracy, I’m inclined to believe that either:
-
The person is delusional, or
-
The person is a con artist trying to lessen his/her own guilt by passing some/most of the blame onto someone or something else. Remember how Ted Bundy got James Dobson to interview him, and tried to claim he’d been driven to his murder spreee by porn? Same principle.
That must be his second job.
This is basically my view. I think the question comes down to cause and effect. When I hear the phrase “Satanic Murder” or “Satanic ritual abuse” I get the impression that it is believed that it was that persons belief in satanism that led to their activities. In contrast I think it much more likely that the sort of person who would murder or horrifically abuse someone. Is likely to be the sort of person who wants to flaunt the mores of society and so would be attracted to an iconoclastic movement like satanism, particularly if they can use it to justify their actions.
So starting a “war on Satanism” is no more likely to prevent murder than outlawing trench coats would have prevented the Columbine massacre.
Especially since the school’s “Trenchcoat Mafia” had nothing to do with the murders. They were just a convenient media scapegoat because they had “Mafia” in their club name.
Your friend is Remus Lupin?
Well, that might also be because he sometimes eats them.
Because Italians believe in the existence of Satanism, or because they believe in the existence of Satan?
Also, there’s the furniture-humping.
See post #186.
Well that’s a reasonable answer. My scope for the whole phenomenon would be people who practice sadistic rage with the pretense that some supernatural power was being served by it. I had a little self serving motive that was more comical, because of the biblical passage:
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”
This pretty much describes the murderous young lady in the article, no? Get it? LOL…aw shucks
I’m truly perplexed by the Satanic Panic of the eighties and some of the cases that I’ve read about. If anything, it helps me understand the power within suggestion - and especially suggestion by those who hold some sort of power to influence. I have no idea if there is any truth to it, but I’m trying to understand those who claim it happening. I try to be very fair when listening to people and their stories without making a snap judgment against it. I’ve brushed across it on a few occasions and didn’t know how to respond.
Thanks for your answers - I do like this board and those who contribute.
