Q. How do you know when it’s fall in Tucson?
A. When the license plates change color.
That’s when the winter visitors from other states begin to arrive.

Here in the Bay Area it supposed to be in the 80s or 90s all week though today its been grey all day, and never got above 75. Yet it does feel like fall a bit because of the days growing shorter. Real fall weather usually starts around Halloween when the rains begin.
Yep. I miss fall.
To be fair the couple weeks of fall we have in January and February feel pretty nice, sandwiched in between months of december summer and one or two weeks of actual chilly weather.
Within the city of San Francisco, fall normally means warmer weather for a couple of weeks. We had a very cool cloudy summer (“summer” only going by the calendar).
So we had a couple of weeks of warmer weather, and it seems to be cooling down, but that’s not to say that it won’t warm up again any time within the next 4 to 6 weeks.
However, there is one unchangeable harbinger of autumn (no, not school, at least not for me any more) - it is the shortening days. There is no mistaking this change, no matter what the weather. It was actually dark when I got home last night, for the first time in months (I went to the gym after work).
Roddy
No, but then I don’t expect it to feel like fall in Sacramento until sometime in October.
Still in the eighties at night here but the tourists’ (trade) is falling and we’re getting ready for the snow-birds.

I’m in the DC area and no, it’s been disgusting for the last couple of days, low 90s and incredibly humid. It feels like early August.
Nope, and hopefully never will.
Nope. Hot, in the 90s, humid, and bone dry. Everything is brown.
I see leaves starting to turn, but I think it’s because we have had no rain foe weeks.
I think it’s supposed to cool down tomorrow. Maybe then. It needs to get in the 60s for fall weather, though.
No. It feels like Spring.
Yep, very much. Blossom on the trees, leaves starting to appear and the smell of Jasmine in the air.
My dogwood tree has had red leaves for several weeks now. It’s always the first.
No. It will be 90 something today. Tomorrow the temperature will be in the low 70s, and will stay there for several days.
I’m POed. The burning bushes in front of the house are turning red. The first sign of fall.
Slightly more fall-like here in Minnesota today, in the mid-70s. We’re not going to have any good fall colors in the southern third since it hasn’t rained for a month. Instead, everything will wilt and then the leaves will all blow off in the first good breeze.
Ah well, at least we have the Asian lady beetles to look forward to ;).
It felt oddly fall-like in early August, with days of rain.
Now the summer heat (I suppose it’s Indian summer now) is hanging on longer now, even as the days shorten, as if to make up for it.
Missouri, where it just depends on the Jet Stream and such, and dry high pressure systems hang around for days and days.
