Does jargon make you feel smart, or something? (re: "pilot", & lame)

I thought Star Trek’s 2nd pilot episode was Where No Man Has Gone Before?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer also had a different pilot. I know Willow, and I believe Xander, were played by different actors.

Not quite. Willow and Principal Flutie were played by different people than in the series.

It was made almost 3 years beofre the orginal episodes - the precinct # is different from the regular series and the Police Station is much tattier and uglier than the regular Station. Also, it became the *third * episode shown (“Everybody’s Favorite Bagman”), thus giving great creedence to the OP’s contention . Watch for a young William H Macy!!

Well, the difference matters to me. I’ve been in two pilot audiences, as part of the testing before a show gets picked up.

One, when I was a kid, was with my father; we both answered questions on the phone afterward. The show was called Hooperman, & it was picked up.

The other time, I was an adult; my mother was told about it & asked me to watch it with her. (I think they like having multiple persons in a household watch it, or maybe she just wanted someone to watch it with.) I don’t remember any of the polling. (In fact, I’m not sure if Ma was in the official audience or just found out about it somehow, but she had the time & a nonstandard frequency to tune to.) It was a sitcom with Andrew Clay & Ralph Macchio, & it was not, so far as I know, picked up.

Wow. None of us ever knew how close a call that was. You’re like Homeland Security.
