This is one of the few “okay” shows I’ve liked in years! Usually it’s either I’m in love witha program or don’t watch it at all.
So thankfully, even if Keen Eddie were to get taken out, it wouldnt be the end of the world. But sadly, it seems that whenever I get to like a program, it’s a death sentence (Gargoyles, Dark Angel, Firefly.) So why bother watching anymore?
So basically, what does everyone think Keen Eddie’s chances are? It’s watchable, fun fluff.
Keen Eddie has a lot of potential, but it keeps trying to be Guy Ritchie. It isn’t guy Ritchie. Still, it can be smoothed over and be quite a groovy show.
I missed it last night, I had to work, but I liked the first episode. Granted, it was basically a rehash of what we’ve seen a thousand times before, but I thought it was done pretty well.
Ordinarily, with my habit of being the kiss of death for decent programming, I’d say it’s doomed. But, with NBC picking up Ed for a new season, I’ve become hopeful - which is against my nature. So here’s to Keen Eddie, long may he run.
Didn’t they try to run this one last fall? All of the commercials over the last couple of weeks just seemed very familiar and my roommate mentioned that she thinks she remembers it being titled “Scotland Yard”, or something.
I enjoyed last nights episode. I’ll have to watch 4 or 5 more episodes before I know whether or not I’ll continue watching it. It’s looking good though…
That’s unfortunate. I don’t watch fox all that often so I don’t really know how much of an opportunity they give a new show to develope an audience. I hope they make an exeption for this show.
drm: They’ve almost made an obsession about introducing some good, or at least potentially good series and then shitcanning them after a handful of episodes. One notable exception was Dark Angel, which they allowed to run for two seasons. Granted, season two was pretty bad, but it still had the chance to improve itself (IMO).
Just off the top of my head, some series that were never really given much of a chance by Fox before cancelation were:
Firefly
Family Guy
The Tick (I believe it had nine episodes planned, it got to show six)
Andy Richter Controls The Universe (half-assedly brought back, now probably gone again)
The Lone Gunmen (I have to admit I didn’t watch the series, was it any good? Did it get more than a couple of episodes?)
Harsh Realm (Again, never got the chance to see it)
Undeclared (I’m still pissed that this series got the ax)
Futurama (Didn’t this show still have a decent following?)
I would have been less mad if at roughly the same time as most of these cancelations, they insisted on ramming That 80’s Show down our throats. THIS was the show they wanted to succeed?
This link lists a few other cancellations. The last paragraph describes the kind of show that Fox feels the public wants (someone must have gotten a momentary clue, because as far as I know it never aired).
Oh, well. At least Joe Millionare is coming back, right? And I’m sure we’ll see another Celeberty Boxing, and can Temptation Island III be that far away?
Come on, Fox, either give the quirky shows a real chance, or just stick with the usual swill. Crap, or get off the pot, please.
