I’ve seen two movies, at least, in which I believe that Matt Damon is wearing what looks to be ‘women’s levels’ of eye makeup. Or, Pharonic amounts. I am talking semi-David Bowie. IIRC, one of the Bourne movies, of all movies, and I can’t recall the other. Am I imagining this, or has he overdone it at least a few times?
(If you want to interject that you 'don’t know what a “woman’s level of eye makeup is” please don’t join this thread.)
handsomeharry
Which movies do you mean? I can’t recall him with eye makeup but I haven’t seen a lot of his movies.
I can’t recall anything like that, but I can sort of see what you mean looking at the poster for The Bourne Supremacy (didn’t see the movie). Do let us know if you think of the other movie(s).
In any event wouldn’t that be the make-up person’s decision?
I would guess the director could tell the makeup person they don’t like the makeup so they would change it. And for some actors they could probably veto the makeup as well.
I don’t remember ever seeing him with eye makeup. Could you find a picture to link to please?
Seconded. I’ve seen most of his movies and have never thought he had too much.
There’s a closeup of Mr. Sulu early in ST:TOS “City on the Edge of Forever” after he’s been zapped by an electrical discharge from his console. His eyes are closed and it’s obvious he has on 'way too much eye makeup. Kinda made me smile when George Takei finally came out of the closet…
Okay, so I spent about 10 minutes viewing pics on Matt Damon online (mmmmmmmm, that was fun…), and I didn’t find a single one with him wearing perceptible eye make up, let along too much.
Linky, OP?
Looking at pictures of him, I note that the bit of skin between his eyes and eyebrows is sort of puffy and pushes right up against his eyelashes, potentially obscuring it. This could make it look like he has either really big eyes or no eyes at all since the small line of black at the top is helping to outline the shape. So, from a cinematic standpoint, it would make sense to put some eyeliner on him just to be safe.
Whether they actually did or not, I couldn’t say though. I don’t have any Damon movies in my collection.
yeah, but ALL the guys on Star Trek TOS wore a lot of eye makeup, didn’t they? I mean, Kirk was practically swimming in mascara half the time…
If by “too much eye makeup” you mean “too much tooth whitener”, I agree.
Well, maybe, but I never noticed it half as much as I did with Sulu that time.
Especially that evil-twin-from-another-dimension Kirk…they quadrupled it for that one…
Never noticed it.
Men cannot wear too much eye makeup. Neither can women.
(ETA: Unless it interferes with their vision; that might be too much.)
Robin Williams told a story on the old Letterman show about the time he met Laurence Olivier:
"I went up to him and said, ‘Mr. Olivier, its such an honor, I-’, and he interrupted me to ask, ‘Are you wearing makeup?’, to which I said, ‘Um, a little yes’.
‘Don’t!’, he said, ‘Makes you look effeminate!’
“I’m melting!!!” Williams then cried to Letterman!
I’ve made this mistake before too. It’s actually Hilary Swank, not Matt Damon.
Here’s how to tell the difference in the movies.
Ex 1.
If they’re driving around a midwestern town with their buddies, looking for trouble it’s Hilary Swank.
If they’re driving around a northeastern town with their buddies, looking for trouble it’s Matt Damon.
Ex 2.
If they’re punching the crap out of people in a ring, it’s Hiliary Swank.
If they’re punching the crap out of people in Europe, it’s Matt Damon.
At least one movie, the Bourne movie where his girlfriend gets killed by the sniper while they are driving around in the Range Rover(?).
I don’t have a pic, (I’ll look, but time is limited) but it was like day and night to me, in that movie. I had enjoyed him in the Ocean’s trilogy, and never seen it, but on the Bourne thing, it really jumped out. It was on some other movie, also, but I can’t remember which one. Maybe on one or two scenes from the Good Shepherd?
BTW, I don’t mean all of the time, just on a few movies.
Never noticed this.
And then bucks says the OP is secretly Ben Affleck.
Where are the pictures dammit!!!
Here’sa pic from the scene the OP is referring to. I don’t see any makeup, personally.
