Does orgasm alter urine color? (warning: possible ick factor)

You know, I’d be embarassed to ask this, but after seeing threads on Tijuana donkey shows and elephant penis size, I figure why not!

For some reason, I’ve noticed that if I go to the bathroom within 5 or 10 minutes of having an orgasm, my urine is a much brighter yellow. It’s normally quite pale. I doubt this is some sort of common thing, but I was just wondering if there was a scientific/chemical explanation for why that might happen to me. And yes, I’m a woman.

Probably related question: I’m a male, and noticed my urine has a slightly different odor after orgasm. Why?

IANAD, but urine color (or lack thereof) is USUALLY an indicator of the relative concentration of urine. (Some drugs/supplements/foods can change urine color too). Darker urine indicates pee-pee with more dissolved solutes in it. Usually this happens when you are somewhat dehydrated or the first morning void. (your body has had all night without a drink to filter and reabsorb your urine). I don’t know of anything from orgasming that would cause your urine to change color. Perhaps it is a coincidence?

As for male urine smelling different: Maybe the ejaculate that is left in the urethra from the orgasm is being pushed out when you take leak, and you’re smelling that?

You’re right, it’s probably just an isolated thing. But it’s consistent with me, so I thought maybe orgasm altered my body chemistry in some way that could result in that.

Semen and sperm left in your urethra would concievebly colour your urine.

Well if you’re sexual activities are vigorous then you may just be dehydrated. Or perhaps you are tending to have sex at a time of the day when you are dehydrated (always in the morning? Always when very drunk?).

Or maybe you are hyper sensual and are seeing colours as more vibrant :).

Refer to this link. A thorough understanding of this phenomenon may help answer your question.

Depending how you got the orgasm, Turek, there could be other fluids about that you’re smelling, too.

I’m doubting the slight amount of ejaculat left over in the urethra could affect the color of an entire urination. The first squirt, maybe…

IANot a doctor, or a Urologist, just a long time user of the equipment.
