Does philosophy, physics or mathematics exist in Heaven?

A) Are there any Christian or other religous texts that mention the existance of philosophy in Heaven?

What I mean is: in Heaven, would you be able to think something like “Supposing that Heaven is all-encompassing, what’s OUTSIDE of Heaven?” (much like our Earth-bound question of “What’s OUTSIDE the Universe?”)

Are questions such as these allowed and encouraged in Heaven, or no? If they are, would that mean that God Himself is also curious as to what is outside of Heaven? If not, does that mean that we would be ignorant of other things, such as Hell?

B) Are there any Christian or other religous texts that reference anything regarding physical dimensions in Heaven or Hell versus it being a non-physical state?

Obvious, Heaven is supposed to just BE, without any beginning or end. But, does that mean it is ever reaching in all directions in a physical space? And if so, see question A above :).

Or, if Heaven is not a place with physical dimensions, and just IS, without having width or depth or heighth, then is there anything that describes what such a type of state would be? Can such a state be described using human language or thought?

A) You probably wouldn’t need to ask many questions if you’re in an enlightened state, and you’d probably be in an enlightened state if you’re in Heaven.

B) IIRC the book of revelations gives some physical dimensions to Heaven.

heaven to me sounds tremendously boring. to quote radiohead:

personally, i don’t think that i AM a nothing, and the idea of everyone else being as cool as me (or the coolest person i know) is frankly quite mortifying.

Wouldn’t an enlightend person question if they are truely enlightend. God may believe he is omniscient, but what if theres something he really doesn’t know?

That doesn’t sound like very enlightened behavior. It sounds more angst-ridden.

I think that heaven is about “being.” At some point we become part of the unity of all things. We are one thing and that thing just is. It won’t be boring because the unity will exist in a state of bliss. Extreme euphoria. A desire for nothing more.

I know this sounds like New Age jargon and bubble gum philosophy. But it is really what I believe.

Please don’t ask me to cite.

hrm… elaborate?

It just seems to me that if somebody’s enlightened that they’d know that they’re enlightened, what with them being enlightened and all. If they’re feeling apprehensive about something (“Maybe I’m not so enlightened after all! Time to drink myself into a stupor…”) then they’re not really at peace with themselves.

bolding mine.

Granted, that is THE enlightenment, but nothing in the buddist doctrine mentions enlightenment as knowing everything either.

Being enlightened means that you’ve attained spiritual/intellectual insight/wisdom/knowledge, not that you’re currently striving for spiritual/intellectual insight/wisdom/knowledge.

Yes, but you give it the definition of having ALL knowledge. I don’t see that anywhere in any definition.
You define it your way, just keep in mind that your way is not the conventional way.

Granted, I just figured that if somebody were so enlightened that they were able to transcend time and space (by going to Heaven or Nirvana or wherever floats your metaphysical boat) that they’d have to be pretty damn enlightened.

As long as there is anything not known by any individual who wants to know, there will be philosophy, physics, logic, and mathematics.

I don’t believe the Bible teaches that we will know everything.

Yea, I suscribe to Epimetheus’ definition of enlightenment.

I don’t see how anyone who is a critical thinker could possibly believe they know they’re in an enlightened state. I state the obvious yes I do. =)
