Does powdercoating come in other colours than black?

Like medium-grey, for example?

Yes. Pls see local yellow pages, probably “coatings”.

Thank you.

I’ve seen powdercoated bird cages in a number of colors - grey, green, blue, red, and silver to name a few.

Yes, most powder coating companies have a range of standard colours and many (for a premium) will coat to exactly the colour you want - low volumes might be expensive for custom colours though.

But I’d have thought that the standard colour range will probably include several greys.

Excellent.

Thanks!

I had many of the parts under the hood of my 66 GTO powder coated red, looks pretty awesome.

This piece on Powder Coating for Motorcycles covers a multitude of questions about the process.

Good article, Squink. I was a little put off by the bit that said “Your powder coater will charge you a pretty penny.” I’ll have to call a coater and see how pretty that penny is! Rustolium is only a few bucks for a can, and sandpaper is cheap.

There are eight pivot points on each half of this frame, and they are extremely stiff. They’re going to need a few shots of WD-40 or penetrating oil before they’ll move properly (or at all). So it sounds like I’ll have to limber them up, then have the coater clean off all of the rust, old paint and oil and coat it, and then I can lube the hinges again.

Spray paint is more authentic, but I have an idea that powdercoating is less likely to chip at the pivots.
