This is me being mad!!!
So there!
I repainted my valve cover. It didn’t come out well. Grr.
Now I have to start all over. Soak it in paint thinner. Sand the hell out of it. And try again.

Powderbake, dude.
I’m not sure I understand. When you that you repai… On second thought, nevermind.
Dude, that’s what the ** hood ** is for. When you close it, no one can see your valve covers.
Yes, in all reality the hood is great for that…unless it is a show car, am I correct?
Scylla, Powderbake?
What kind of brush are you using?
Did you sand it intitialy? Why would you need to sand it again?
Yeah, powderbake.
It’s a really cool finish for these things. You put an alligator clip with a small current running through it on your cover. Than you spraw on this powder, than you bake it in an oven. It melts on with this really great finish.
I’ll go find you a link.
I sanded it initially, but for some reason, It wasn’t as even as it shouldve been. It came out rough with several coats of high temp paint. I assume that it was because the sanding wasn’t as good as it should’ve been.
Therefore, I got to rip off the pain, sand it much better, and see what happens when I paint it.
Sounds like the process they use to refinish washing machines and cast-iron bathtubs. Smooooooooooooooth.

It’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys. makes a beautiful finish. Just don’t use the wife’s oven.
Thanks…now only if I had extra money…
Anyone feel like donating?
Oh, and don’t waste your time sanding. Take it to a finish shop and pay somebody $5 to sandblast it for you.
YAGGGA! $145 to paint a freeking valve cover? What is Krylon, five bucks a can?
Hmm tough choice…Krylon!
I’ve got a friend that does the powder coating in his garage. My husband just got his valve covers back, and he’s in love with them. This guy works really cheap. I’ll hook you up if you’re interested. I’m in the Chicago area, but you could send them to him.
Maybe you can find a chrome or polished aluminum cover. I put a set of Offenhauser polished aluminum covers on my 62 Stude. $140.00 for the set. They look great. I’m going to have my exhaust manifolds coated with CermaKrome, but I don’t know if that would be good on a valve cover. If you’re interested their info number is 1-800-432-3379.
What the hell is a valve cover?
