I read the merest of mentions of it in the paper, but can’t seem to seach for it on line. (Wrap seems to bring up the meaning of “wrapped in a soft taco” rather than “wrapping paper”)
Supposedly, the wrapping paper around the sandwich, the part you’d normally throw away, is made of vegtable material, like lower quality leftover lettuce scraps.
A. …you talking about the Taco Bell Crunch Wrap? It’s basically a soft tortilla wrapped around a taco (more or less), and then grilled.
B. …you talking about the USDA’s edible food wrap?

I don’t see that Taco Bell is using them, though, offhand.
Maybe you’re conflating the two?
From the photo ti looks to me like they are talking about the outer bag.
They may be talking about a new process for sealing off a tortilla wrap, not a new edible “plastic” wrap. The paper looks like one of the standard Taco Bell waxed paper wrappers.
That’s really not a good copy of the photo, though, so it’s hard to tell what that is.

Definitely just a tidier use of tortilla. The filling is totally enclosed and then it’s fried.
Don’t eat the waxed paper, dude.
But how am I supposed to get fiber then?
A great solution based on a half-vassed idea that the wrapper needed an edible wrap.
For what?
Another wrapper is now needed to keep the edible wrap clean and free of dirty greasy finger prints, crap on the counter, etc. etc. :smack:
I’m going to Burger King? Hardees? MickieDees? Dairy Queen?
I was just sitting here contemplating whether the thread title made more sense without the last word…
If you eat Taco Bell, the LAST thing you need is fiber.
A tortilla itself is a wrap. I don’t get it.
Shouldn’t they concentrate on edible food before trying anything complicated?
I did once see on a food program a while back that street vendors in Japan were using a pressed-rice soup bowl that could be eaten afterwards. In the right setting (probably not Taco Bell), I can see how edible dinnerware/cutlery could save on waste…
I figured the title meant all the wraps at taco bell aren’t quite edible, which I agree with. However, one can eat the “bowl” of the taco salad.
Dude, I’ve got Irritable Bowel, and I NEED all the fiber I can get.
Interestingly (in a TMI way) I’ve just started also taking fiber to even out what might be IB. Does it help?
It did for me,also taking Elavil for a month really helped as well.
Thanks, I’ll look into that.
I think “edible” wrapping paper just makes it more environmentally friendly (biodegradable), rather than actually edible.
