Does the Men's Wearhouse guy never get older?

I’ve been watching Men’s Wearhouse TV ads since the Eighties. At the end of every commercial the founder, George Zimmer, comes on and tells us You’re going to like the way you look. I guarantee it".

Is it just me or has he not aged an iota in 30 years?

George is a vampire. And yes, he hasn’t aged. Beard helps.

And since he killed Billy Mays and stole his life essence, he’s actually getting younger.

Looks plenty old here

He feasts on the blood of Dick Clark. His days are numbered.

Say what you want about the guy, but I feel bad for him.

He’s almost guaranteed to be buried in a $40 suit.

Maybe there are more than one of him. They keep them all lined up facing the same direction on a rack in a back room at corporate HQ, and when one shows signs of wear they just haul out the next one.

I cannot see those commercials without thinking of the chain as “Men’s Food Warehouse.”

George in 1971. George in 2011.

Looks noticeably aged to me.

That is downright scary.

Actually, I was thinking just the other day that they had updated the bumper on that ad, because he was looking grayer.

He never gets older, but if you look in his attic you’ll find a decrepit mannequin wearing a threadbare Men’s Wearhous suit…

But he’ll like the way he looks in it.

I thought they kept him in a freezer and only thawed him out once every few years when he needs to shoot a new commercial.

I gaaarantee it!

(I miss the way he used to pronounce that word. Now he pronounces it normally, but he used to have that really strong accent.)

He is famously a recovering alcoholic, so he probably aged a lot during one period of his life and is now just catching his chronological age up to his physical one.

I don’t think his chain had progressed far enough for him to air his commercials until at least ten years later. My recollection is that he had a salt-and-pepper beard by then and looked essentially the same as he does now.

I realize that it’s just a product of having seen his face at least once a week for 25 years or more. You don’t see the gradual changes, just the way you rarely see them in yourself.

That’s just about how I thought of it, too.

I bought my very first pair of pants (without the assistance of my mom) from a Men’s Wearhouse in Canton, Ohio, 'way back when!

I rented a tux from The Men’s Wearhouse last month. First time in my life I ever wore a tux and I’ll be damned if I didn’t like the way I looked!

My boyfriend just bought a suit from there because he needed one for an interview fast and they were actually the most helpful - the nicer department stores were not eager to help him and he didn’t know his sizes. The guy at MW was really nice and made it easy for my guy who doesn’t know how to just go somewhere and buy a suit. He got a very attractive grey suit and it was much more than $40 (ahem), although they had some buy one get something deal so he got a really cool looking wool coat as well. And I liked the way he looked. AND they also got the tailoring done on a rush within 24 hours.

Yeah I used my 1/2 off coupon too. Got a real nice leather jacket reg. $149 for only $75! And, of course, I like the way I look in it. (No affiliation with MW. Just a satisfied customer.)
