Does this Burger King ad offend you?

I think it’s sexist. They wouldn’t have this same ad with a man.

If they used a real man, rather than a somewhat phallic sandwich, it would be hard to justify.

Well, I have been craving BK all week as a result.

Hi, I’m BK, pleased to meat you.

(Yes, the misspelling was unintentional, but I decided to keep it anyway.)

I think someone forgot the name of the place is Burger King, not Burger Jester.

Quiznos commercials also have sexual connotations but with a big dose of weirdness thrown in:

For what it’s worth, I think it’s a good sign that we can use fairly blatant homo-eroticism in humor. Means a lot of the ingrained homophobia is gone.

I’m sure there’ll be plenty of lube on the burger.

Call me naive, but I didn’t even notice the sexual innuendo until like five minutes later. Perhaps because, to me, most of these words only have sexual connotations if they are said in a certain way.

The thing I thought was offensive was that the woman looked, well, whorish. No woman should have to look that bad to sell a product.

Knowing what the majority of people think when they see it, I no longer find it offensive, just distasteful. But it took explaining the metaphor in this thread to make associate the product with something not so altogether tasty.

You missed the subtle innuendo of a woman with bright red lipstick with her mouth open in front of 7 inches of mayonnaise soaked meat AND a message that it will blow your mind?

I went to Snopes in the belief this was a hoax. Still not sure it isn’t.

If it proves to be a real ad then put me in the “offended” column. I find it ironic that food vendor would produce such a tasteless ad.

Another vote for this. And, as has been stated already also, the sheer unsubtlety and idiocy of it. What a comment on what appeals to society. If it’s true it has only had a limited release, then that’s positive at least.

I live in Singapore. I assure you it is a real ad and a real product

It make me wish for a marker to “improve” the picture of the burger .

That’s actually a very good turn of phrase, but it forces me to ask: you have been to Burger King, haven’t you?

What sort of attention is it getting in Singapore?

Honestly, when I opened the thread and looked at the add, I wasn’t sure if we were supposed to be offended by a possible blow-job reference or by a possible suicide reference. Anyone else?

I dunno about that…while it’ll probably get the job done eventually, eating too much fatty food is kind of a slow road to suicide.

By the way – is anyone else who suffered through Sweet November reminded of Keanu Reeves’ “I want a hot dog!” ad pitch?

NONE that I have seen or noticed.

Standards are a little different here to what you are used to in the US.

The ad did not offend me, but as to the rest of SIngapore - I don’t know - I am an “expat” kinda

I have often wondered why BK even pays it add agency anything, the add agency should pay BK for the damage it does.
