I dunno, seems much, much older to me. Like something someone would say during the French Revolution or something.

Rick and Morty is the only context in which I’ve seen it.

It is the same sentiment as “I wear their scorn as a badger owner”.

As far as I can tell, that precise phrasing does originate with the cartoon.

The sentiment is far older, but I like this particular expression.
