I’m looking at buying some box set DVDs and came across this website.
For some reason these guys are setting off my scam-o-meter.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

If it’s questionable, I would look elsewhere. It looks questionable to me.
Those sets look pirated. I see those everywhere in Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Philippines. Boxes look the same.
Here’s an interesting discussion on the topic. Seems that these are box sets with foreign language on the outside, likely bootleg.
My college roommate from Hong Kong used to come back with armfuls of these every time he went home. Definitely pirated.
I ordered some eBay discs that had to be pirated. Anime sets (Ghost in the Shell seasons 1 & 2, Cowboy Bebop) that were way too cheap to be legit.
You know what? They’re just fine quaility-wise.
Yeah, I know. Copyright this, artists’ rights that, going-to-hell, heat-death of universe, blah-blah-blah. Still - only way I could afford them.
We ended up with Cowboy Bebop the same way. Pretty much ditto to everything you said.
I would add, however, that this website seems awfully shaky. I don’t know why, but I’m particularly troubled that they still have messages up about ordering before December 6th for delivery by Christmas. I generally tend to stay away from resellers who don’t update their websites.
My vote is for “legitamate” in that you will get the product, it will be very high quality, but will be an unauthorized release.
