Does vB have a filtered moderation queue feature?

I know that it is possible on most of these message board applications to have posts queued for approval by a moderator before they appear for real on the board (I think that is turned off here), but (if it is used)is the feature global or can it be made to apply only to posts with certain content?

I have no idea. Usually, Arnold, Tubadiva, or Gaudere are those in the know when it comes to vB stuff. I’m sure they’ll be in shortly.

I’ve got vB software. It’s global.

Well, a hearty sort-of-hello to IrishTxLdy, who has been on the boards about as long as it is possible to have been on the boards, and who yet has only six posts (as of right now), all of them This Morning.

Now that’s lurking.

All 6 in ATMB, as well, which is sort of like lurking.

I resent that. I don’t “lurk”. That’s for punks waiting to steal cars that people leave with keys in them as they shop at 7-11. I post what I want, when I want. I’m sure I’ve posted a number of test threads when I signed up, but they seem to have been scrapped at some point. Usually I just read the Columns. And I don’t read for months at a time.

Hey, sorry! That wasn’t meant to offend.

What’s queing mean in this case? Don’t you see your posts right away?

On this board, yes, you see your posts straight away (subject of course to the server working properly).

But the software also has a feature that can make them queue subject ot approval by a moderator (that would be a real headache to manage on a board of this size), what I was hoping existed was a content-based version of the moderation queue feature (it ought to make it a little easier to stall some spammers)

Like Ringo said, IrishTxLdy, no offence meant.

In Straight Dope Message Board parlance, ‘Lurking’ has come to be used to describe the habit of reading the boards, but not posting, for whatever reason.

New posters are, in fact, encouraged to read the boards to learn a few things and get a feel for the way the palce works, rather than jumping right into a career of posting. As they say, “Welcome to the boards. Lurk for a while, and see what’s up.”

It’s not an insult, at all.

Welcome, if not to the boards, to Poster Status: More Active Than Before.
