You’ve got a flair for adding that special touch of comfort in your home, and guests feel it instantly. It’s a natural feeling for anyone to step into your home and feel almost as though they’re at their own place — even if it’s their first visit. You’ve also got a great sense of balance and intuition when it comes to what’s too feminine or too intimate, so that no one’s ever offended in your domain. But don’t be afraid to show off your own personal style and sophistication — even if it’s not someone else’s. As long as you’re not draping lingerie on the coat hooks, you’ll be just fine.
After answering the incredibly limited questions, I got this response:
Where the Heart Isn’t.
Do you really love your home, or is it just somewhere to lay your head at night? Maybe you’re too busy to manage all the upkeep a home demands — especially if you live alone, or have kids or pets. It can be tiring, too, to keep up appearances for guests, and you shouldn’t have to. But your home should be your haven, a place where you feel most comfortable — and with a few simple touches that reflect you, it’s easy to achieve that state of blissful ease. Start by treating yourself to a fragrant bubble bath or if you’re crafty, make some pillows, and within weeks you’ll probably find that you long to spend more time at home, because of the comfort it emits.
Then again, perhaps it’s best that the answers were limited; my choice would have been something like
Q: What’s the first thing you see when you walk into the house?
A: A huge freakin’ mess.
Your home is all heart — it’s no wonder you love it, and people love an invitation from you to visit. Your domain is your pride and joy and a great outlet for your great host abilities. You also have a great sense of self: You know that your panache only needs to please your own palate, but since you do like to have people over, make sure you’re not overwhelming them with too much stuff that’s self-prophesizing. If you feel your own eyes watching you as you walk past every picture on the walls, try replacing one or two with a classic Monet or Renoir… who knows, maybe it’ll bring out the hidden hue in your couch, or add new dimension to your next salon party.
Mine is “all heart” too. But I had to cheat on some of the answers. I don’t have any of those things on my fridge, in my kitchen or over my couch. I just picked the one I liked most from the things listed.
Um, I am clearly not even remotely in the target audience for that Web site. The first thing you see when you come in my front door is a frenzied 70-pound dog, snarling and barking to beat the band in case you’re a thief or a cat-sympathizer or something.
And “air freshener”? Ha. When I clean something with bleach, I guess it freshens the air a bit.
