I’m watching the news this morning, and I realize something that’s been bothering over the last couple of weeks. Very few of the local newscasters can say the letters “m” and “n”. Quite a few of them seem to have stuffy noses, and at least one reporter looked like she was the mat on death’s doorstep.
“Da high today will be in the sebbedees.”
“Tibes Square id Dew York.”
“Chaddel Dide Dews.”
“Fox Dirty-Five Dews”
“Fifty billion dollars” (is what I heard - the caption behind the anchorman read “Fifty Million Dollars” - big difference)
I’ve noticed this with the radio reporters, too. I realize these people have a job to do, and their voice (and looks, in some cases) are their livelihood. I just find it amusing (not Schadenfreude-ish, just heh funny) that the weatherguesser is talking about a beautiful day, and is stuffed up to all get out. I just want to hand them a box of tissues and a box of Ludens.
