One of my dogs, Reeses (big peanut butter colored retriever) has been house trained. When we first got her, we intended on her being an inside dog, so we house trained her. Once she started to get enormous, we decided she was better kept as an outside dog. So, out she goes.
Cut to 3 years later. Reeses still always wants to come inside with me. Sometimes, I let her in for a while, but mom always makes her go back outside. She’s never pooped or peed in the house, but then, she’s never been inside more than 2 or 3 hours. She’s never gone to the door while she’s been inside, like she needs to go, or anything.
Question is, do dogs remember their house training their entire lives, even if they are an outside dog, or have we just been lucky so far?
