Dogwoods, Amen at the Corner, and Green Jackets: It's Masters Time!

Mickelson into the water at 12.

You can always count on Lefty. One of the greatest choke artists in all of sports.

Bones: “You’ve got to give it a little extra.”
Phil: “No problem, I’ve got it.”
Phil: : plunk :

And now Cabrera shanks a shot. Pressure is starting. Oh, yeah - it’s the back nine on Sunday.

They are so busy watching Woods and Mickelson, some guy ends up -6 for the day after 16, and -8 for the tournament, and they don’t even show him until he misses an eagle putt at 15. Good going for John Merrick.

Meanwhile Mickelson D.Bogeys 12. Typical Phil.

Some ugly golf suddenly.

Tiger’s caddy never would have let him try that shot. Why in the world would you go for a monster 9 on a green that the one thing you absolutely cannot do is come up short?

Oh man, Furyk just went over the green from the bunker on 9. I feel your pain Jim.

And Campbell drops one…

The wheels are coming off all over the place. Furyk, Campbell, Cabrera played eight like a 20 handicapper.

It’s going to come down to Tiger and Phil, I think. Maybe Kenny Perry can grind it out.

I still think Phil/Tiger need to get to -11 to win. But it is clear that being the front-runner isn’t an easy position to maintain on Sunday. Not that we haven’t seen it before. :stuck_out_tongue:

This is not an easy putt on 9 for him either. Man, I don’t remember ever seeing so many collapse before even getting to Amen Corner…

Saved par.

Did Phil tick that branch?

Mickelson seems to be enjoying the challenge a bit more than Tiger. Tiger hits a mundane iron in to 15, leaving a 15’ eagle putt. Lefty then sticks his shot to about 4’ for eagle. If Phil can avoid the implosion factor coming in, he could be about to not only win the tournament, but do it playing with Woods, outplaying Tiger over both the 18 and the last nine.

Gotta be weird being Perry and Cabrera, leading a major on Sunday, and having almost no one comparatively following them…

Hearing the roars from the crowds following Woods and Mickleson have to be driving the guys behind them nuts. The announcers can’t stop talking about the energy around that group and the complete lack of it anywhere behind them.

Two short eagle putts now.

Tiger misses his. Still a bird, but he really needed both of those strokes…

Holy cow. What a choke shot…

And neither one of them makes the putt.

Mickelson gags on a 4 foot eagle putt that would have given him a share of the lead.

Tiger and Phil only one and two shots off the lead respectively, but they’re running out of holes.

And Tiger just knocked it stiff on 16.

makes a birdie but leaves you feeling like he choked. Weird.

This duel between Tiger and Phil is more interesting than anything going on behind them.

I haven’t seen anyone choke so much since linda lovelace.

Here comes Tiger.

Tied.

Well, Tiger and Phil are. The leader is still Kenny Perry, who is parring everything. Which may end up being just enough.
