Emmylou started out as a folk singer, didn’t like country music until she met Graham Parsons. She and Linda didn’t know each other until they met on a Neil Young tour, so many other things I did not know. Linda says about Emmylou, when she heard her singing, she felt a tinge of jealosy, decided to love her like everyone else did. Who is more beautiful and has the best voice?
And Dolly. Huge influence in modern music, not just country music, she is like Loretta Lynn, a feminist in a genre that is usually anything but, “Stand by Your Man” etc. And she plays the banjo, I did not know this.
If you don’t have this, get it
Ah, yes. The Queenston Trio. A more perfect set of voices it would be hard to find.
And now at the end of the documentary, Dollie says, about hearing that Linda, because of Parkinsons disease, would not be able to sing on another album - “It just kiled me, it cut me life a knife”. It kills me too, a beautiful bird no longer able to sing.
As long as I have Emmy’s version of Pancho and Lefty I’m good.
I did not know Linda played the guitar. OK basic G C D struming, or whatever the actual chords are.
And here is Emmylou.
**Trio **is one of the all-time great albums, of any genre. I could live for another 100 years and my “top-10 favorite albums” would never be without **Trio **up near the top. It’s that good.
“Sorrow in the Wind” from **Trio **has such wonderful harmonies in the blend of the three voices.
