Don Ho died of a heart attack this morning. He was 76.
I remember when I was a kid that he had a show on TV. ISTR a commercial or something where he’d say ‘Hello, I’m Don Ho.’ I remember Tiny Bubbles.

My younger brother picked up the ukelele at the age of 7 because of Don Ho and still he plays 35 years later.
I blame Imus.
Which is an anagram of I’m a bum’s lei.
Is it true he’s survived by his wife Heidi?
Seriously, I’m sorry to see him go.
How much do you think he’ll be overshadowed by the death of:
a. Vonnegut
b. Imus’ career
I heard somewhere he was kind of nappy headed.
With Imus and Don, we’re two thirds toward Christmas: 'ho Ho
Seriously, I saw Don Ho live back in the 60s. He put on a pretty good show and did much more than “Tiny Bubbles” (though it’s a fun song).
I am so sad. We always stayed at the Hilton Hawai’ian Village when I was a kid, and you could always see him outside of his shows.
Say what you will about his style, he was a great ambassador for the islands.
In the late 70s, he did a commercial for (a dishwashing liquid?), in which he sang “Your soft hand in mine, a paradise we’ll find.” Then he said, “Hello, I’m Don Ho.”
Well, he WAS part German, as well as Dutch, Portuguese, Chinese and Hawaiian. You get a lot of mixtures like that in Hawaii.
I remember his “Brady Bunch” appearance.
 One of my favorite palindromes.
He was an Icon, a true ambassador of the Hawaiian culture.
I have no words.
He will be missed.
Saw him perform at a luau or something back in the 70’s in HI, great show! Can’t say much for the poi though.
Poi sucks. But I was impressed with some Tahitian poi that someone brought to a potluck one time when we were living in Honolulu. It was like a banana pudding.
Ever tried canned poi? Ugg.
I imagine that would be the same difference as between shit and canned shit.
Nah…the GOOD , Two-Finger Poi is in plastic bags on the deli shelf at the market
Now THERE’S an oxymoron – “good” and “poi.”
I note the New York Times ran the wire service obit. What is up with the Times’ obit page? Do they even try rolling their own anymore?
