Conservatives, in any fairly mixed setting, often do **not **assume that people that they encounter hold the same political beliefs that they do; in fact, some conservatives assume that people they encounter are **not **their political allies until proven otherwise.

Dueling stereotype: liberals often perceive themselves as an embattled minority trying to grasp “real America” away from conservatives, who own the place.

Liberals not knowing that conservatives dominate the military and law enforcement is silly, though.

I’ve not found that to be the case in my experience.

The conservatives here, both civilian and active duty military (who express an opinion), all think everyone thinks like they do. The idea that someone doesn’t think Palin is a great VP candidate is just mind blowing to them, for example.

Not to mention the lack of even a cursory “prairie dogging” before they tell racist or homophobic jokes. They don’t see the need to.

Nonsense. I regularly encounter conservatives bloviating loudly about their views in mixed settings. But maybe its because they don’t care whether the people around them agree with them or not.

I didn’t see the game, but perhaps some of you did, and could answer a question for me. Were touchdowns scored during the game met with a similar hero’s welcome? Long pass receptions? First downs?

I only saw the first half, when Trump arrived. I’d say the excitement was much bigger for game events. Hero’s welcome strokes me as a hyperbolic description of what I saw.
