This is not incompetence. This is an atrocity. It should be pursued by international jurisprudence on the same level as any other atrocity.
Today in church the second reading was 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. You’ve all heard it: “Love is patient, love is kind, it is not rude, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not self-seeking, it is not proud, it does not brood on past wrongs, it does not delight in evil, it rejoices in the truth, it protects and trusts and perserveres.”
And all I could think was “Damn, Trump is the exact opposite of all those things.”
So yes, according to St. Paul and the New Testament, Donald Trump is a horrible human being.
Well, he lives by Two Corinthians, which is twice as good as 1 Corinthians, so there.
So what DOES this administration propose to DO about these twenty seven hundred plus migrant kids that they tore away from their families?
I say we round up the children of these admin people, including Barron, not take any records about who goes with who, and marroon them all on different islands in the Pacific until each of these migrant kids are reunited with their families. Then they can go look for their own spawn with no help from us. After all, it will serve as a deterrent to future administrations ever doing something as monstrous as this again.
You need more cats.
Yes he is a monster. But so are those that make up his base, and they cheer for every migrant child tear. He has unleashed the darker side of millions of people.
I say we put their cats on those islands, too.
The ones I’ve had so far were pretty tasty.
For those missing the sarcasm, we need to point out a few things.
The people making these treks already fear for the lives of their children. They were hoping that by bringing their children to the United States, they would not have to fear the hunger, torture, and death that appeared to be the only future for anyone living under the oligarchies that the U.S. supports in Central America.
They could not know that some idiot bureaucrat, working for an immoral government, would not only separate families, but then deliberately destroy the records that identified which people–parents and children–belonged together.
Trump would never even notice if that happened.
Yes, absolutely.
Oh, fuck that shit.
So you’re OK with all of it. What a twisted fascist piece of shit you are. You’r even worse and more sickening than even I gave you “credit” for.
From what I know of you, you’re not one who has a tendency to pull assertions (particularly such shocking ones) out of thin air. Yet I find no reference to the one I emphasized in the story linked in the OP. Could I trouble you for your source?
Tell me, do you feel that Swift’s A Modest Proposal would have benefited from a few smilies here and there?
ETA: :dubious:
Are you unfamiliar with Vinyl Turnip?
I don’t know about deliberate destruction of records.
As I understood it, records were never taken down in the first place, so eager were these assholes to do their evil work of separation, and shipping kids off god knows where. They just didn’t bother.
The same thing the Republicans did with the 2008 recession, the Guantanamo detainees, and the Iraq occupation; they take us deep into a mess and then get voted out of office and leave it for the Democrats to clean up. And then they’ll sit on the sidelines and complain about how much the Democrats are spending on the clean up.
In this particular case, the next Democratic President is going to have to set up a program of massive DNA testing for tens of thousands of people in order to reunite the families that have been broken up. It’ll cost millions of dollars. Because the Trump administration couldn’t be bothered to set up a simple and cheap fingerprinting system.
kdad: no evidence there was a database recording which kids were whose. Link to ABC; the original source is a report by Homeland Security (it doesn’t open, it downloads). Here you can see DHS’s own previous press release saying such a database was being recorded.
From everything I’ve read about Trump and his children, he didn’t give a damn about them, or waste any time on them, until they became adults who could be useful for him.
