Every person who gets detained is recorded in an act of bureaucracy at its finest.
According to the NPR report heard last summer, (that I have not yet been able to find), after the families were separated, the children were deliberately assigned separate IDs with no connection to the families.
If someone wishes to debate whether or not that is “destruction,” I will not participate in that discussion.
The action is worthy only of utter condemnation, however it was carried out.
"The House Oversight and Reform Committee on Tuesday voted to subpoena the Trump administration over documents related to the policy of separating children from families at the southern border.
…
“I did not make this decision lightly,” Cummings said. “I believe it is a true national emergency when our own government rips vulnerable children from the arms of their mothers and fathers with no plans to reunite them. That is government-sponsored child abuse.”
Any action to hold Trump accountable is worthy to me.
What happens when the adoptive parents need to register them for school? Isn’t there some paperwork you need to show, a birth certificate or an agency’s certificate or something?
In a similar vein, what’s, “You’re not my mother!” in Spanish?
That quote from Trump ended with the claim “I love Otto and think of him often!” What a revoltingly smarmy and impertinent way to talk about a tragically deceased person he never even met, and almost certainly does not think of often. Trump really is incapable of any interaction style other than the greasy insincere overfamiliarity of show business, in which any form of sympathy or appreciation is described as “love”.
