If it was irresponsible for the media to merely report Trumps remarks, how can it not have been irresponsible for him to have made them?
But seriously folks, the media is under obligation to make known the full extent of Mr. Trump’s idiocy and that must take precedence over the safety of any single individual. The system itself may be at stake in this election and that, er, trumps any other considerations.
The rules state you must post in English, and the expectation is that your posts must be understandable.

The Straight Dope Message Board is owned by a publication based in the USA. The common language of all the moderators of this message board is English. For that reason we ask that all posts on this message board be made in English. The staff members need to be able to read and understand posts made at the message board.
Another point on this topic: I haven’t seen any report about Trump’s “2nd Amendment” remark that has failed to include negative commentary about it. (Though it’s possible that some mainstream outlet has simply played the remark with no accompanying criticism, it would be surprising. I would be skeptical that this has occurred.)
The message to the well-armed unstable folks out there is clear: If you attempt to commit an assassination, your idol Trump will be held responsible.
That’s not to say that it’s certain Trump would do time. But it’s likely that there would at least be many calls for him to be indicted.
So for the media to play the remark is not by itself an incitement to violence. It would be such only if it were played with no accompanying negative commentary.
I tell you, if my wife was trying to have a serious discussion with me and I just kept making huge smilies in her face (especially green ones), I’d be kicked out of the house by sundown.
ETA: Guess I don’t have to give advice after a Mod did so… but I liked my green smiley line, so I didn’t go with “nm”
