Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

Yea, of the available options, I guess he isn’t so bad (for Trump). He was a real high profile politician, albeit almost 20 years ago. And unlike any of the choices that are actual sitting politicians who have political futures to think about, Newt will probably be pretty shameless about defending whatever crazy thing Trump said that week. Someone like Pence or Christie probably would’ve had to spend half their time hedging or equivocating.

And he’s pretty plugged in to some of the GOP money men, so he might help cure the Trump campaigns money woes.

Don’t know how good he’d be at reassuring the rank-and-file in the event of a delegate revolt at the Convention though. My impression is that Newt isn’t that in touch with the GOP outside of the donor class.

I really don’t believe so. I’ve been saying all along that he is doomed for two basic reasons:

(1) He starts out with an electorate that is significantly more demographically challenging for even a generic Republican than was the one in 2012;

(2) He is not a generic Republican, and the very few Obama Democrats he may pick off are swamped by the Romney Republicans he will lose, like college educated white men and–most decisive of all–suburban white women:

he has a chance only because Clinton is the nominee, and she has a chance only because Trump is the nominee. But yes, Trump can win, although he probably won’t.

Bullshit on Hillary – she would be leading every Republican who was running except maybe for Kasich – and against Kasich she’d still have a decent chance.

She’d beat Kasich easily too if the press had gone even slightly into who he is and what he stands for. But there was no need to.

You have no idea how much I hope we get to test your hypothesis.

Of course you do, but you won’t. Your side picked Trump.

Kasich had to go all-in just to take his own state. In his own party.

The *next *guy is going to be your savior, right, adaher? He always is.

At this point, anyone but Trump is my savior. BTW, that Virginia delegate did win his case, so there’s one delegate who isn’t in Trump’s camp anymore.

I’m wavering in my conviction that its going to be Romney. Still, got a nickel says he’s staying close to his phone.

Dr. Carson on CNN just now. He was comenting on who will Trump select as VP. “Well, everyone that thinks that they know what Trump will do does’nt really know what they are talking about. Because he is unpredictable.” The CNN reporter asked Carson then about the VP choice. Carson then said: “Trump will be careful…” :smack:

Yes, he… must know.

They certainly are not in favor of polygamy…but serial monogamy is quite alright. And if you’re going to have a mistress or some action on the side, for G’s sake make sure no one finds out!

You can get away with “hiking the Appalachian Trail” too, as long as you put up enough of a show of Christian repentance when you do get caught.

Republicans aren’t anti-divorce, so divorces alone don’t make a Republican a hypocrite. HOW those divorces came about can, however, and Trump and Gingrich are certainly no paragons of family values. Trump has never pretended to be, he’s just pretending to be someone he isn’t so he can be the GOP nominee.

What’s hilarious is that Rudy Giuliani is a lot more conservative than Trump in reality, yet Giuliani was too liberal for Republicans in 2008. What exactly is the Republican Party today? Schizophrenic?

It’s the re-marriage that makes them not only a hypocrite but a sinner who continues to sin every minute of his life with no intent to repent.

They have been a little bit anti-divorce in the not-so-distant past:

We call for replacing “family planning” programs for teens with funding for abstinence education. We urge states to enforce laws against statutory rape. We support the establishment of Second Chance Maternity Homes. Because many youngsters fall into poverty as a result of divorce, we also encourage states to support projects that strengthen marriage. We support initiatives that strengthen marriage rates and promote committed fatherhood.

Families are the cornerstone of our culture-the building blocks of a strong society. In families, children learn values and ideals, as well as the basic lessons that get them started on a lifelong path of education. We believe that every child deserves the chance to be born and grow up in a loving family. We also believe that while families exist in many different forms, there are ideals to strive for. Evidence shows us that children have the best chance at success when raised by a mother and a father who love and respect each other as well as their children. We also know that family breakdown makes America less stable. To create a sturdy foundation for the strength and success of our citizens and our nation, Republicans support policies that promote strong families. We also support a government that makes it easier for parents to raise their children in a world that offers unprecedented opportunities and new challenges. We offer an approach based on our common values and our common hopes.

But I imagine that since “red states” appear to have a higher rate of divorce than “blue states” - I doubt there will be anything much more recent specifically about mothers and fathers loving and respecting each other or discouraging divorce.

I agree with that interpretation of the Bible, but Republicans are not opposed to either divorce or remarriage as part of their platform, nor have Republicans made a habit of criticizing Democrats for divorcing and remarrying.

The first item in their platform is “Preserving and Protecting Traditional Marriage.” Since when does “traditional marriage” include two or three step-moms/ex-wives? Banging other broads? Throwing your marriage vows under the bus when your hard dick slides into a woman who isn’t your wife?

I understand the Republicans who wrote this intended the part I bolded to be merely a bigoted stab at same-sex couples, but if they really and truly weren’t bloody hypocrites, they would see that a serial cheater with several ex-wives actually goes against the “one man and one woman” ideal they’re striving for here.

Sad.

I don’t know. Some of those spam-bots post some pretty tasty titty pics.
