Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

Demented Cheeto?

I saw the Vulgar Talking Yam a while ago and it seemed a most excellent descriptor.

Great post and comment!

And this is where Trump’s comments over the past week, and in particular his hesitation in supporting the GOP comments, are a real problem. I have no doubt that Manafort is the guy who pushed Trump to endorse the GOP candidates because he knows that it’s going to be critical for Trump to use the apparatus to win key states. Trump can’t win without push polling the elderly, robocalling, and knocking on doors. It’s simply not possible. He must have national and local GOP support or it’s over. This is why Paul Manafort’s there and why Corey Lewandowski’s out.

I read that, too, and my gut is telling me that Trump’s campaign is even worse. Well, more than my gut: The fact Trump’s campaign has seen multiple high-level personnel shake-ups is telling me that his campaign is even worse than Sanders’ was: Sanders, for all his outsider pretensions, is a real politician. His campaign, therefore, was a bunch of people trying to get an electable man elected to a different office; they were incompetent, but quietly so, and he never made a serious misstep on the campaign trail.

The Trump campaign, on the other hand, has to keep the demented narcissistic shitgibbon from doing any more damage to himself or his political aspirations than he already has. They seem to fail at this once every few news cycles, but I’ve read more than one news piece which suggests they actually succeed every so often, implying it could be even worse. Add to that the fact the Trump campaign is staffed entirely by people who wake up in the morning and decide to spend one more of their days on this planet managing Donald Trump’s political ambitions and you can see that it has fundamental handicaps which are likely insurmountable. They can either let Trump be Trump, and watch as he harasses and bullies another supporter while he’s onstage, or they can keep the candidate in the back room, and run the kind of quietly incompetent campaign which cost Sanders his nomination while depressing the likely turnout of the only voters who actually want Trump to win.

Interesting.

FWIW, around 1989, Spy Magazine broke the story that Ivana had been married before, which Trump had tried to bury.

If it turns out that his and Melania’s marriage isn’t legit, it might be the only time that Donald Trump and Andrew Jackson are ever mentioned in the same sentence.

What he was reading was his long-awaited endorsements of Paul Ryan and John McCain (for their primary races).

Reading those sentences from a paper was Trump’s idea of an Alpha Male move–in other words, I am doing this because my advisors are making me do it, but reading it instead of pretending I actually think well of Ryan and McCain shows that I’m still Large and In Charge.

Donald Trump: Undisputed King of Psychological Projection.

Can you give a little summary of what I’m potentially clicking on?

It’s a SFW Obama meme.

What? Andrew Jackson also appealed to populism, positioned himself as an outsider, had a sophomoric understanding of economics, rejected the basic premises of the constitution, and was into banishing whole groups based on their ethnicity.

There may be more parallels there than to any other U.S. President.

I’ve felt that Trumpist Republicans are somewhat akin to Jacksonian Democrats. I wouldn’t say there’s congruence but some similarities anyway.

I do wonder if he is closer to Jackson or to Buchanan.

Does he not understand how video works?

I’ve been referring to him as the Tangerine Nightmare. No idea where, If anywhere, i saw that.

Totally stealing that one.

Unconfirmed reports that tonight The Unbalanced Cheeto gives a shout out to Al Baldasero, who called for HRC to be shot a few weeks ago. Also supposedly he restated that Khizr Khan is an agent for the Muslim Brotherhood.

One source on Twitter, so I’m saying unconfirmed for now.

Polling’s all over the place. One says Hillaryup by 15%; one says Hillary up by only 3%.

By the way, why does Trump have so much more Facebook followers? He has 10.2 million, nearly double Hillary’s 5.4 million. Aren’t Democrats and the younger generation more likely to be Internet-connected?

Facebook is the realm of middle aged Americans now. It’s like, so ten years ago.

Ignore. Online poll. No details on the other.
