It’s a great headline! “Anne Coulter, the first author to ban her own book!”
Slacker. She should’ve started years ago.
The damned Legal Marijuana Now party came out of the basement and got their mom to drive them to town hall to register but the Trump campaign forgot? Who is in charge of this shit anyway? Still, it’s not like he was going to win anyway.
Oh wait. Trump less than a week ago: "If I could win a state like Minnesota, the path is a whole different thing, It becomes a much, much different race. We’re going to give it our greatest shot.”
Trump is on the Minnesota ballot.
Yeah, only because that guy on twitter alerted them-- as you can tell by the date.
Lopsided voter mobilization efforts can have down-ticket effects, meaning this election could become even more nightmarish for Republicans.
I am a little hesitant to accept those conclusions. The study attributes higher turnout to the campaigns’ efforts and likely that’s at least partially true, but the fact that your vote just matters more in a battleground state could be as important a factor. As the article mentions, both the candidates benefitted equally with somewhat similar resources. This election will be the one to tell the tale as far as how much GOTV/ground game matters in the battleground states since this time we’ll have a real disparity between the campaigns.
No the article said that advertising was equal, and that Obama did get more votes due to his better organization - just not enough to turn any states, as it turned out.
I doubt that people really go to the polls in greater numbers in battleground states - but if they did both parties would benefit, and we could measure this against similar non-battleground states.
Obama not only got out the vote, but he got out the vote of people most likely to vote for him. Trump on the other hand does not seem to believe in data. And that is stupid.
New entry in the 2016 World Championship Sick Burn competion:
Eric Cantor:
Pleased to see @realDonaldTrump embrace @JebBush’s immigration plan.
That’s not something you need to take as a matter of faith, it’s all recorded. I posted this in another thread:
http://www.fairvote.org/what_affects_voter_turnout_rates
So if you want to doubt it then I guess you could look at other years to dispute it or come up with alternative reasons those states had better turnout.
Sorry for the double post but while the article says:
“Obama’s edge in fieldwork did appear to net him votes”
it also says that in the battleground states:
“these increases in turnout were similar among Democrats and Republicans. As they noted in a previous Monkey Cage post, this implies that both the Romney and Obama campaigns were able to mobilize voters successfully.”
which when coupled together implies, imho, that being a battleground state matters more than the ground game of the campaigns.
I doubt Trump is ever going to even come within a mile of reaching Romney’s organization quality, let along Obama’s or Hillary’s.
Fox News’s Shepherd Smith: “He trades in racism, doesn’t he?” about Donald Trump.
The issue is that at least five alternate electors were appointed instead of elected at state convention as required so Trump’s filling can still be contested.
Trump apparently gave a rather sudden interview with CNN earlier today, which is airing at 8pm EST. He double-downs on calling HRC a bigot and saying she is selling African-Americans “down the tubes”.
This is his first non-FOX interview since July 31st, other than a brief appearance on local news outlets.
Really doubt it’s an issue worth worrying about. No one thinks he’s going to win there anyway so it’s rather pointless to dig into the weeds and see if your tweeter has a case.
To repeat what I said in another thread, it’s been indescribable for me to watch those who never liked Trump actually start to examine conservative voters and media institutions critically. Reading National Review and RedState basically crow “I told you so” while dealing with the Trump fans they helped create (Google image search NR writer Jonah Goldberg for an example) will, I hope*, cause some self examination.
- The use of “hope” is deliberate here, because it’s all I’ve got on that issue.
You mean, is it custard or jelly?
Sounds like that big scary girl hurt his feelings and he needs to make sure everyone knows “SHE STARTED IT!”
