Agreed. If I were the Dems there I’d let it go.
Agreed here, too.
I want people to be able to vote for their preferred candidate. I want them to want to vote for the candidate I prefer, but it’s more important that they vote at all.
We talked about the Minnesota thing back on page 104-5. I agree that the lawsuit will almost assuredly fail. Rather embarrassing that the actual DFL party is filing the suit rather some whacko “rules are rules!” guy or a third party.
Its part of an underground movement, Minnesotans sick of their “image”. Lately, pops up on Facebook and twitter feeds, Jesse Ventura saying “I’m Jesse Ventura, and I am NotNice! I appove this message because fuck you!”
Or a picture of the late Phyllis “Stein” Shafly: “This is Phyllis Shafly. She is nice. She wasn’t nice before, but now she is dead. That’s nice.”
Yeah, it’s not like anything like this has ever made it in front of the Supreme Court.
It took me a minute to understand why you thought this was similar and I’m still not sure if you are agreeing or disagreeing with me. But istm, the intent of the law is to require the parties select their electors and alternates under their own procedures within the deadline. When this story broke, there was a focus on these alternates not being elected but the legislation doesn’t say anything about selection method. If the Minnesota Republican Party decided that alternates should be selected by drawing names out of a hat or even appointed by party leaders, I don’t see how that is against the law. But the lawsuit is positing that the fact that the alternates were selected at an Executive Committee meeting rather than a delegate convention meeting is enough to disqualify them. I can’t imagine the court will agree.

I was agreeing with you.
Yes, he claimed in 2015 that he had divulged his plan to “two or three” officials that were supposedly “high-ranking” but that nothing happened. The article seems to emphasize that Trump was waiting for Obama Administration people to ask him for his plan–and if they didn’t ask, oh well!
Of course the fact is that Trump repeatedly makes the claim even now (of having A Plan), and our press corps won’t put him on the spot about it because that would endanger the horse-race closeness of the election–the thing that keeps their ratings and sales high.
I suppose what I’m really suggesting is that every so-called journalist who hears Trump claim he has A Secret Plan, and then fails to call him on it, should be ashamed.
Quoted for truth. That is exactly how they think. Aided by the voices in their bubble.
This one is a yawner for me. Trump went on Larry King’s syndicated show. One of the shows syndication deals is with RT. Big whoop.
Now, the way the Trump team responded to the criticism in a panic, I found hilarious ('We thought it was a podcast!), but ultimately nothing to get worked up about.
Just read a [very interesting article](Republicans July 2014: -66 Aug 2016: -27) about the malleability of Republicans when it comes to Russian dictators who invade neighboring countries. It seems that Republicans can shove their qualms under a mattress, as long as their local authoritarian Strong Man tells them to.

Is this actually a syndicated show? My understanding is that the ONLY network airing his show as regularly-scheduled programming is RT. (It’s also available on demand [e.g., on Hulu], but I’m not aware that it is carried on any other broadcast/cable/satellite station or network.)
Oh, Trump knew. Or his campaign is so fucking horrible that nobody knew.
The 2nd is too unbelievable for me. Larry King never mentioned? Nobody talked about media distribution plans and news cycles?
I call bullshit.
Occams razor: Trump knew.
When I saw a brief clip today, King’s microphone had “RT” on it. Sure looks like that’s his network.
BTW, Jesse Ventura just got a show with them. Russia is definitely upping their cultural warfare. Lol.
Trump 2016; Make Russia Great Again
If the need is great enough, I stand ready to sacrifice Jesse Ventura for Russia’s cultural enrichment!
I just posted to FB:
“SHARE if you want Donald Trump to control the nation’s nuclear arsenal.”
I hope it doesn’t go viral!
I’m not worked up about it, but I think it’s hilarious that Trump continues to associate himself with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and that the Republicans in American basically don’t mind. It’s really his only consistant position. He’s flipped on everything else - even immigration - but by golly, he just thinks that saucy Russian KGB man is swell. He always knows the Russian party line and he has no problems running down America if it means he can praise Putin - and the Republicans are cool with that!
Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for president and he hates everything America has done for the last fifty years. And Republicans are cool with it - as long as he attacks Democrats.
Yeah, I am kind of worked up, now that you mention it.
The Republican nominee just gave an interview that would be broadcast on Russian state TV, exonerating the Russian government for it’s attempts to influence the American election (in his favor, don’t forget) and insulting American intelligence and our free press. And the Republicans are on board with it because it lets them criticize Obama.
Anyway, about the logistics of the interview.
Ora Tv was created in 2012 when Larry King left CNN to provide a vehicle for him and produce other content. It was funded by Mexican billionaire and International Man of Mystery, Carlos Slim. (Ok, I don’t know about the last part. But with a name like Carlos Slim, I’m going to use it anyway.)
Ora TV’s produces on-demand and digital tv shows, including PolitiKing with Larry King and some other stuff you’ve heard of. King also has a celebrity talk show, called Larry King Live, with Ora. Ora produces the shows and then licenses them to cable or digital distribution channels. The shows are availble to anyone who wants to license them. PolitiKing is availabe on Hulu, Ora TV, and Russia Today.
In addition, King has a podcast that he does with his wife, called Back & Forth with Shawn and Larry King. It’s a puff piece with celebrities and talking about their “normal” daily life.
Trump knows all about this. He and Larry King are old, close, friends. Donald was in talks with Ora TV to develop his own show for the network, only the project was cancelled last year when TRump debuted his campaign with an assault on Mexican immigrants.
He knows what Ora TV is and he knows what shows they run. He knows what his friend Larry King does for Ora TV, since Larry founded Ora along with Carlos Slim.
King, who’s been doing TV longer than God at this point, released a statement today, saying that Trump always knew what show he was booked on. He was booked on Politiking, and at this point, Trump’s protestations that he didn’t know what show it was are simply not believable, given his long track record of defending Russia and his known connections with the Russian government.
And of course, Donald Trump is a pathological liar. “I didn’t know” is pretty much his goto defense. It shouldn’t come as any surprise that he tried to lie his way out this again.

Russia and the United States reached agreement early Saturday on a new plan to reduce violence in the Syria conflict that, if successful, could lead for the first time to joint military targeting by the two big powers against Islamic jihadists in Syria. The agreement was reached after 10 months of failed cease-fires and suspended efforts for a political settlement in the Syria war, which began more than five years ago, has left nearly a half-million people dead and created the biggest refugee crisis since World War II.
