Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

I had a conversation on this the other day, and the person unironically in support of Trump talked about Nixon’s secret plan to end the Vietnam war. I had to remind this person that Nixon never actually had a secret plan to end the Vietnam war.

What. Even. The fuck. A candidate for president of the united states just said we should respond to taunts and harassment with an act of war. No, really, that is what he just said. What the flying fuck?!

To be fair, he did have a secret plan to prolong the war.

Clinton explains who Trump’s supporters are - half are in “the basket of deplorables”:

:b:

That’s supposed to have become a “thumbs-up” smilie… wrong board, I guess.

And now, too. Washington Post:

I’m beginning to have serious concerns about Donald Trump’s health.

He has visibly put on at least 35lbs since this all began, he is 70yo, in debt up to his eyeballs, doing a brand new job which puts fantastic demands of stress and energy on his already-overtaxed heart, and the fact that he is doing it so badly, with over 1/2 of America hating him… the florid coloration, the antsy way in which he moves, his inability to put together a cohesive sentence…

Really, if health of the candidate is a big concern, one cannot make a case that DJT is capable of handling the pressure for.much longer.

Seriously? What has Clinton done that’s worst than threatening to start a war because someone gives you the finger? (Real things please, not the made up nonsense about Vince Foster, etc.)

Wonder why they’ve been so desperate to turn a microscope on Hillary’s “failing health.”

Clinton:

Trump Twitter response:

Wow! It’s going to lose her Trump supporters. Brilliant reasoning! :smack:

It’s the next stage in the “How DARE you express prejudice toward us bigots!” argument that the Right has been trying out for the past several years.

I’ve noticed Trump uses this phrase a lot, but I am not sure what he means by it:

“I have a lot of respect for…”

He used it in his example of what he’d do with Obama’s metal stairs controversy, but in a self-contradictory way. He said he’d tell the Chinese “I respect you a lot, but let’s get out of here.”

He has also used it in regard to the FL AG and the Pope. I suspect it’s similar to saying “I don’t mean to sound racist, but…”

It doesn’t mean shit. As you say, it’s self-contradictory.

“Now about the Muslims, great people, love the beards, Melania, she loves hummus. But they gotta go.”

I can’t eat Middle Eastern food, it makes me feel awful.

Smacks 'luci with a stale pita.

Last night, [Hillary Clinton had a fundraiser where she said:

Mr. Trump read about this or heard about this and later remarked on Twitter:

:dubious:

Who exactly does Mr. Trump think this will turn away from Mrs. Clinton?

I don’t think he understands how this whole voting thing works.

I also posted this in the SRIOTD thread in the Pit.

And the right wing is outraged. Even ABC News thinks it was a horrible thing to say:

And the Washington Post calls out the outrage:

A tisket, a tasket
Yelling Redneck basket!

She could certainly have expressed herself better. It might (although I doubt it) lose her some support among the still-undecided.

She should have said something more vague than “half”, other than that i don’t see the problem.
