Having Birtherism take over today’s news cycle is the best thing that could have happened to the Clinton campaign. I have to wonder if it was an elaborate trap – if so…well played, Hillary.
The plot could have formed as:
*If we could get Trump to talk about Obama’s birth certificate…it’s a win-win. Either he stands by birtherism, then he’s a CT loon; or he repudiates it and he’s an ex-loon and a flip-flopper.
We just need to get him talking. We need a friendly reporter to ask him the question on the record.
The Washington Post hates him; I’m sure they’ll cooperate.*
The only question is: why would Trump agree to an interview with the WaPo?
Waitaminit. . . didn’t Trump promise to give 5 million to charity if The Prez’s birth certificate checked out? Do you think he paid his crack Hawaiian investigation team or did he stiff them after they found the “absolutely unbelievable” information but before he realized he shouldn’t have listened to Hilary imaginary voice wispering “Kenyan” in his ear.
You really believe he has $5 million in his bank account? Oh I am sure is worth something sizable, even though a fraction of what he claims, but money he can spend … I highly doubt it is very much.
And the Trump Foundation is under increased scrutiny now… where else might he be able to get his hands on other people’s money? What are the odds that he tries to fulfill this “promise” through his campaign?
Yep, he’s in full “I gotta say some wild shit in front of the camera to make people forget about what I said this morning” mode…which is how he starts falling behind 5-8 points in the polls.
I was really surprised by this move. As far as I can tell, everybody likes the new Cuba policy except for die-hard emigres in Florida – and they were probably voting Republican anyway.
(This presumes that Donald isn’t acting on principle, since he doesn’t have any.)
