Donald Trump's 2016 General Election Campaign

Just Ted looking out for Ted. Guess he took the threats from Priebus seriously.

My wife somehow got on the Cruz mailing list and was getting daily requests for money to help him with his campaign debts.

The emails stopped this week.

Coincidence? I mean, people are saying…

So, is there no one in the leadership of the GOP with a thread of decency?

You forgot to add this to your post.

Yeah, he’s so thin-skinned that he must response to any perceived slight, no matter how small. He’s childish.

Was anyone seriously expecting Cruz to have any decency? Trump endorsement or no, I’ve never thought of Cruz to have a surplus of decency.

Translation: Ted Cruz thinks Donald Trump can win.

Or he doesn’t want to be blamed for his loss, since he wants those voters in 2020.

No. translation: Ted Cruz finally realized his only hope in 2020 are Trump voters. Something that should have been blatantly obvious to him already.

That, too, but 30-45 days ago, when Trump was sputtering and everyone writing him off, where was Cruz? Probably assuming that everyone would see what a mistake that they had made by electing Donald Trump as their nominee and laughing his ass off. He’s not laughing now, because Trump is actually a good debate or a few fortuitous news cycles away from winning the presidency. But if he had continued to be the clown that he was in early August before his intervention, Cruz wouldn’t have done anything but sit on the sidelines and giggle at Trump’s misfortune.

An interesting Newsweek story - a just-released video deposition transcript shows that Trump either told a blatant lie at one of the Republican debates or committed perjury during the deposition. (The subject was whether he tried to get Jeb Bush to allow casino gambling in Florida.)

Can’t see this story getting too much specific traction, but add it to the pile, I guess.

I agree with DigitalC and iiandyiiii, of course it follows that the entire GOP now is supporting also: the harasser of women Roger Allies, Pravda of the west Breitbart staffers, racial profiler and still birther Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Climate change denier energy adviser to Trump Rep. Kevin Cramer, A bridge too far Chris Christie and the big con man himself, Trump.

Inside Donald Trump’s head.

You can’t have a surplus of something you don’t possess.

I honestly thought I couldn’t have less respect for Cruz. Hopefully he loses his seat before the next Presidential election and his slimy persona is erased from all but the most detailed of history books.

No.

Less than 24 hours after this was published, Ted Cruz proves Mr. Magary (and many others noting the lockstep nature of the GOP) to be correct.

It’s easy to say this in hindsight, but 30-45 days ago everyone here was having a completely different conversation. In fact some of us were wondering whether or not Trump might not, in fact, quit the race. We have short memories. Cruz and a lot of others in the GOP thought Trump was a weak candidate, so Cruz probably felt like he could sit back and tell his voters “I told you so.” Trump is now, for all practical purposes, even with Hillary Clinton in the polls on the eve of the first race. Not necessarily even in national polling but in the electoral college race, Hillary is just barely hanging on to her advantage. Cruz wasn’t going to be the guy to keep Trump from winning – he has no impact. However, he absolutely could be the guy on the wrong side of electoral history and remembered as the guy who, as if he wasn’t hated by his own party badly enough, refused to back his own party’s victorious nominee. There are consequences for taking stands against your own party.

You heard the boss…

Check that, we’re under siege by tens of millions of morons.
